This will eventually happen to most of the 50 seat regional jets. The push is towards bigger airframes, 90 seats and up. Even the 70 seat jets have shown their economic vulnerability. The squeeze is on, and has been for the last 2 years. Economics pushing out the smaller airframes getting met by scope clauses on the other end.

Qatar Airways

Very sorry to hear about Comair latest future news, I am a former Comair Pilot it was a great place to work once upon a time, I have a lot respect for those who are still hanging on for some miracle to happen, for those interested here is some usefull information on Qatar Airways.

Flight Deck Crew

Qatar Airways is one of the world’s fastest-growing network airlines, taking delivery of one new Boeing 777 every month, with plans to operate a mostly wide-body fleet of at least 110 aircraft in the future. We are soaring to greater heights by way of rapid expansion, hiring quality people and by earning a 5-star status through the quality service which we deliver to our customers.
Our airline is based in Doha, a modern commercial centre and growing tourist destination. Qatar Airways Flight Operations sets a priority on safety and high standards of all its Flight Deck Crew.
None of Qatar Airways success could have been possible without the hard work of our highly –professional pilots. Qatar Airways is committed to an ongoing program of hiring highly motivated professionals to deliver the best levels of Flight Operations.
We offer tremendous opportunities for pilots in all areas of Flight Operations. Each individual will be given the opportunity to develop their career through numerous in-house training courses and state- of-the art training equipment.
To be considered to join a truly international group of pilots who place priority on safety, performance and customer service and who strive for excellence in everything they do, then you will need to meet the minimum requirements listed in the “requirements” section.

For my husband, do you have to live in their domicile/country. I know with Emirates you have to live in Dubai. I didn't read the article yet so apologize if you think me ignorant. I will refer this to him. Thank you.

done?

There'll still be 44 planes. that's not done. its over half, but it ain't "done."

You should work for one of the 24 hour news outlets. You'd fit right in.

So who is next on the DCI 50 seat chopping block? Freedom is done, Comair losing a bunch, and didn't ASA trade some in for 700/900's?

Yes you do.

Check it out on pprune.com, seems like a lovely place to work.

Hay probably not the best place to work in the Gulf but it sure is better then being on the street and collecting un-employment! Emirates will not even look at CRJ drivers, Etihad only hiring type rated pilots. Despite all the negative nonsence on pprune Qatar is actually offering CRJ drivers a chance to earn a type rating and wide body international expirence. Where else can you get a job rigt now in today's economy with only CRJ time? You got any bright ideas? in order to help those who will be effected by furloughs?
