Comair Classes

I interviewed March 21st and have been on the alternate list since the beginning of April (I think seniority for that list starts whenever you get asked to be put on it...i.e. if you interviewed in March, but did not get on the alternate list until May, there might be some april guys ahead of you....i could be wrong, though). I know for a fact that I was the 3rd person they called for the alternate slot, so it was just the luck of the draw that I picked up the phone.

As far as draining the pool goes, I was told they are now into the March 5th-7th interviews. They did not interview again until the 19th-21st of March, so I was pretty near the top of the pool. April was supposed to be pretty light and I don't know what they did for hiring in May.

In any case, I'll be in CVG on sunday and will try to post as much info as I hear as class progresses.

The August 19 th New Hire Pilots will be attending classes at CVG on the following dates.
Students will report at 08:30 to the Human Resources Conference Room, on the first
floor of the Comair General Offices Building, for in processing. In processing will take
place from 08:30 to 17:00. Basic Indoctrination classes will begin the next morning in
classroom 2 at the Technical Training Center. Classes will run from 08:00 to 17:00 each
day.

August 20 Basic Indoc Tech Training Center Room 2
August 21 Basic Indoc Tech Training Center Room 2

all I have to say is one thing!

I hope from all of you lucky guys who interviewed in the right order and are getting classes now at least one of you guys takes a lap top with you or something, and monday night you come back and tell us all hopefulls from the pool the skinny.....

and then each friday, or some like that.....

Hey guys, I have been following this post for sometime and hoping that my time would come. Sharon called me on the 15th, finally, for a class on the 26th. I interviewed on March 5th and have been waiting for the call. I know that it is frustrating but hang there. From everything that I have heard it is well worth the wait!!

If you are in the pool at Comair be patient. Your turn will come. Just to put things into a little perspective I interviewed May 2, 2000. Notified I was hired on May 4, 2000 and I started class Jan 24, 2001. That's within about a week of an eight month wait. This was pre-strike and pre-9/11. A 3 - 6 month wait in the pool at a decent airline is about the norm. Relax. We're still growing. Planes are still coming. You'll be here sooner than you think. If I hear anything specific about new classes I'll chime in along with Anaconda and some of the others.

I'll chime in with my Comair pool story...

Hired back in Jan 2001, told to expect a SIX-MONTH wait...

One week notice of a class to start on Mar 30th...

TERMINATED two weeks later, told I would be considered for future employment...

Hired back on whatever day they signed the contract (Jun 22?)...

You know the rest...

It was worth the wait, they WILL call!

New updates as promised

Well, just had the first day of indoc and here's what we were able to gather...

Classes
- The Aug 26th class has been increased from 6 to 10 new hires.
- There will be a class of 10 on Sept. 9th.
- Tentative October classes are the 10th and 26th with about 20-30 new hires in those total...so 10-15 each.
- The plan is to continue the 20-30 newhires per/month in classes for November, December, and hopefully beyond.

There will be 9 CRJ's delivered in January....you heard it NINE.

Other Misc
- Another 36 aircraft by December '03...18 CRJ's, 18 CRJ 700's.
- Up to 24 CRJ's are going to LGA, but there will not be a crew base there.
- DFW crew base is planned for June '03 and they're looking to put 100-150 pilots down there.


So, if you're in the pool, it won't be too much longer. Hope that helps.

A couple of questions...
The 10th and 26th of October fall on a Thursday and Saturday respectively. I thought all classes started on Mondays. Perhaps your dates are a little off.
I am correct that seniority in class is based on age (oldest = most senior)?
How solid did the DFW in June info sound? Solid as a rock or more like Jell-O/water/gas?

Yeah, i noticed those dates were a little screwy after i had already posted them. The HR girl was trying to ballpark it, so I would guess the 1st and 3rd week in October. Those are tentative, but they didn't expect them to be cancelled.

The DFW June deal would fall somewhere in between solid and jell-o if i had to read from the way he said it. It's definitely going to happen sometime next summer....might start off small. It will only be CRJ's. The 70 seater will be out of CVG.

I'll post more as I hear it.

Anaconda,

I made it to CVG after a two-day drive starting Sunday night at 8:30pm.
I spent 4 hours sleeping in a rest stop just past Chatanooga, I couldn't handle it any longer, I stayed out of the weedy area like Ben Stiller in "Something about Mary".

The Radisson is definetly round, round as a freakin stack of pancakes. I drove by it to drop off some stuff for storage. I moved everything I own in my Jeep.

I ran into Chris Edinboro and Chris Perry, they were studying the as** off, I guess.

It is getting our time, see you in class...

Just curious. That class in Sept. Is that a newhire class or is that just the EMB guys and gals? I had heard that all of the classes in Sept were going to be EMB transitions. I am hoping they are putting in at least one newhire class.

Late May interview will put me back awhile but the more that train now, the sooner my time comes.

I'm no expert, but I got the impression that the E120 transfers and the new hire classes are separated in a sense. i.e. a class of 10 new hires might actually be a larger class with E120 guys....anyone with more info on this, feel free to jump in. I'm in indoc right now, so there aren't any 120 guys, but I wouldn't be surprised if they showed up in systems.

They did specifically say 10 new hires in the september class, though. I'll keep you posted as I hear more.

bad news

Well, our instructor told us today that the Sept 9th class has been cancelled. I guess A/C deliveries through the end of the year (a couple less than planned) is the reasoning behind this.

Ran into Kathy, and she confirmed that the September class is on hold, but that classes for October and beyond are still planned. A class of 10 started this morning. She also told me that the pool is about 140 deep right now.

All of this crap is subject to change as usual. Hang in there!

Yeah, i lucked out big time. I think i heard they were all march new hires. There might be a couple straglers from February, but as far as I know, they're well into March now. The hiring periods were the 5th-7th and the 19th-21st. Hang in there...it's all a matter of when, not if.

Thanks for all the info PR ! I really appreciate it. I interviewed on March 6th and have not been called yet. I keep in touch with two other guys that interviewed with me and none of us have a class date yet. I guess it will be October with the info PR posted.
I am really looking forward to starting and I am sure everything will work out great!
