Surely better, but both still more capable than the Garmin set-up in the P300 you referenced (no multiscan radar or random hold capability for example). The Garmin's (1000/3000) roots come from the piston world (pretty colors/presentation/synthetic vision) versus PL which was specifically designed for business jet usage.

The problem is NJ wont come off the hip and spring for those nice bells and whistles.

"Bombardier expects the super-midsize jet to reach 41,000 feet in 18 minutes, surpassing the manufacturer?s current leader, the Learjet 60."

In 1971 an IP was showing us new UPT students the T-38: "This airplane set a record -- brake release to 40,000 feet in 96 seconds."
(He exaggerated slightly; it was 12,000 meters/39,372 feet.).

Load up that T-38 with: 9 pax, 6 leather pax seats, a couch (yes a f'ing couch), coffee pots, an ice chest, TV's for every pax, golf clubs, enough fuel to fly more then 1,093 mile (max t38 range) and then yes, this is a similar comparison. :D

T38
Max takeoff weight 12,700 lb
Max Range 1093

CL 350
max fuel load 14,100 lbs
Max Range 3,200

The space shuttle can carry a whole heck of a lot more than that and further and has a bit more range than 3,200. Time to 40,000? About 40 seconds. :)

Yeah, but it has a little trouble getting out of HXD in the summer...

I must have missed the announcement where Obama decided to restart the space program. Free cell phones for the poor is more important. Hard to move anything when they are in museums.

Just visited Gulfstream this week. They had a G280 fly nonstop with two pax, Luton to Chicago!

G280 is coming out with auto throttles, STANDARD.

350 may be some people's dream, but the 280 is a totally new beast that's going to make the bombardier folks green with envy.
