Pffft...a sniper, too? You shoulda asked him what his dope would be with a 3 MPH right to left crosswind at 1000 meters...downhill.

Lol, I don't want to encourage him. I just get pissed when I hear "I'm going to go kill people, again", from a guy claiming to be a former military member. That makes the rest of us that really served look bad. He wouldn't know what I was talking about if I asked.

Unfortunately there are a lot those who misrepresent themselves out there (flight time #'s, flew fighters, "there I was" stories that are total BS). Even a VERY recent NBAA board member had in his BIO that he was a USMC A-4 Captain................must've inadvertantly left out the "Plane".......he was a plane captain, like a crew chief in the USAF for those of us from that flavor. This guy never flew a military aircraft in his life. Best move I ever saw Mav...

Both stories are true. Con-pilot tells about Pardo's Push, but it also happened in Korea with F-86's. I read the story several years ago as well. The damaged airplane shut down and the guy pushing stuck his nose in the damaged airplane's tailpipe. He pushed the damaged airplane all the way to the coast where the pilot ejected. As I recall, the pilot who ejected died before he was rescued. I don't recall if his parachute failed, or if it was hypothermia.

Also, the story about the SPAD landing in Viet Nam was about the second or third time someone had done that. It was done at least once during WWII by a Mustang pilot. One of his buddies was shot down over occupied Europe. He landed and picked the guy up then flew back to England.

Unfortunately, I don't have exact references for either the F-86 trick or the P-51.

Saw that on the Dogfight on History channel a while back. The i seem to remember guy drowned. His cute dragged him under because he was knocked out in the ejection and couldn't detach it

Very sad that someone that is already a very important part of USMC Aviation, has to disgrace himself like that..

Used to give drum lessons to this kid a few years ago. His dad(Mr. 500 pound truck driver) told me he flew F4's in Vietnam when he found out I was a Pilot. He also told me he used to sub for Buddy Rich(fastest drummer ever)......I was like yeah, why don't you tech your kid to play drums.

Oh, he subbed for Buddy Rich?? Cool. I myself have subbed for Neil Peart AND Jason Bittner.

On the same night.

There was once a Chief F-ing Pilot for a certain now out-of-business caribbean operator of Dash-8s out of Sna Juan that claimed to be a former Navy pilot (my retired Navy buddy - really former CINCPAC XO - checked and never heard of him), former Captain at Miami Air (MIA Air checkairman since the beginning of time never heard of him), claimed to be a D.E. on the Citation, and was overheard making a claim to some gate agent he was hitting on to be furloughed from United (never on seniority list). Was fired from said air carrier for sexual harassment.

Anyone in the FLL/FXE area ever run across him?? If so, I'd love to hear more.

I almost forgot - also, claimed to have played ball at Penn State in the early 80s.

No one has really ever figured out how he got the time to serve as CP under 121...........

In 1990, there was a runway incusion accident at DTW involving a NW -9 and a NW 72. The -9 got lost in the fog and taxied onto the departure runway. 8 fatalities

Cited in the probable cause was a "role reversal" between the CA and the FO on the -9. The FO had exaggerated his military background which led the CA to rely more on the FO than on his command authority.

http://www.airdisaster.com/reports/ntsb/AAR91-05.pdf

The falsehoods that the first officer told the captain possibly affected the captain's opinion of the first officer's capabilities relative to his own... As a result, the captain could have become overly impressed by the capabilities of his first officer....

... The Safety Board believes that the first officer's...distortions of his military flight experiences and his career acheivements demonstrated a lack of professionalism on his part....

... Consequently, under such circumstances, the Safety Board believes that to deliberately provide less than accurate information about one's flight experiences and career achievements is inimical to flight safety....

...The National Transportation Safety Board determines the probable cause(s) of this accident as follows:
LACK OF PROPER CREW COORDN, INCLUDING VIRTUAL REVERSAL OF ROLES BY THE DC-9 PLTS, WHICH LED TO THEIR FAILURE TO STOP TAXIING & ALERT GND CTLR OF THEIR POSITIONAL UNCERTAINTY IN A TIMELY MANNER BFR & AFTER INTRUDING ONTO THE ACTIVE RWY....

Was at the local EAA meeting the other night and had a guy claim he was a DC-10 Check Airman and former CIA pilot. I asked him what airline and he said National, ok.....so I already can tell he is full of schit so in front of several of us "real airline" folk I ask him to show us his certificate which will have all his "Type Ratings" he wouldn't produce it so for fun I told him that all anybody has to do is log on the FAA website and we can see his ratings....of course he continues to lie, lie and lie....so several of us log on the comptuer and what do we find?

Private Pilot Single engine Land.

Another neighbor who is 67 years old is claiming to be a current USCG C-130 pilot and D.H.S. officer! (My guess is the truth is he is a USCG Aux guy lke the Civil Air PAtrol)

Why do people need to lie?
