There was a big 3 day meeting in Denver this Mon, Tues and Wed consisting of Skywest Inc, SAPA, ASA/XJet and ALPA. Anyone know what it was about and outcome?

I know nothing about all the groups you listed meeting. But XJET MEC and ASA MEC is meeting in DEN yesterday (Wed) and today(Thurs) "to discuss the merger and a few other items." No mention of SKYW in our email. Just a joint mec meeting.

ASA ALPA proposed combining all SkyWest Inc. pilots on to one list, one company.

SkyWest Inc. management said (no suprise) NFW.

The real problem with this is SkyWest pilots "mainline" wouldn't want to merge with the poor pathetic RJ drivers at ExpressJet.........:cartman:

If ASA ALPA does suddenly have a change of heart on this issue that can only mean one of two things.
A. The XJT MEC is beating some sense into the ASA MEC or more likely
B. They know were the majority of the cuts are coming from with the loss of the 200s

well, with loss of airplanes plus loss of pilots late this year and continuing for a long time, it would certainly be a smart move to combine pilot groups for the sake of the airlines... doubt it'll happen but wouldn't put it past em either

It is in the TPA (transition process agreement) that ALPA will not persue a merger with Skywest until the ASA/XJET merger is completed.

After that I think its in the best interest of all parties to be together. The whipsaw is effectively dead when you cannot recruit new pilots. Also, by combining forces you can lower your overall need for crew. Being able to offer bases throughout the country will offer better recuiting and retention. Plus, think what kind of trips they could produce.

So Inc. paid for a meeting with all pilot groups to say no. You can do that over the phone. Or not entertain at all. Looking ahead a few years its not hard to see where the challenges lie for Skywest Inc. Every pilot hired for XJT is one less for Skywest and vice versa... Best to put them together and hire off the bottom and place people where you need them.

Are you sure? Doesn't it say something about another acquired airline?
