It is in the TPA (transition process agreement) that ALPA will not persue a merger with Skywest until the ASA/XJET merger is completed.
After that I think its in the best interest of all parties to be together. The whipsaw is effectively dead when you cannot recruit new pilots. Also, by combining forces you can lower your overall need for crew. Being able to offer bases throughout the country will offer better recuiting and retention. Plus, think what kind of trips they could produce.
What is the question here? Did they not quit and interview then gain employment @ SKYW?What to do with former ASA/xjt pilots that came to Skywest a long time ago.
Relax everybody. The groups were getting together to film their own "This Is My ExpressJet" film series. The deadline is tomorrow.
ASA/XJT and SKYW will not be on one list until the shareholders and BOD agree that is what is best for the company. To them, pilots are the like the 16 year old who wants a new car. They will make you believe it COULD, COULD, happen, but most likely it will not happen for years.
At the end of the day, the shareholders drive the BOD at SKYW INC. The BOD still puts on a good show to the shareholders about how two airlines is best for INC and thus the shareholders. Eventually, enough shareholders are going to ask why INC has not brought everything (2 OCC's, 2 HR Departments, 3, yes 3, training departments, a mulititude of insurance and benefits plans, etc..) under one roof to save cost, or as the execs like to say, create synergies. When Jerry and the rest of BOD can't come up with a good reason anymore, SKYW and ASA/XJT will merge into one. Hell, even members of the BOD are currently questioning why INC has 2 airlines. (Source for that is the pilot, "a friend", who flies that board member around privately.) When only one airline, with one pilot, flight attendant, mechanic, dispatcher, scheduling, management, group exists, it will be the shareholders that make it so....not ALPA and SAPA
And this below is funny
