If FS2002 is to be believed, ignoring engine limits and with 10% fuel the 747-400 will make it out of the crater without stalling. If you actually observe takeoff power limits, you stall or smack a few feet below the top. I'm not sure how real this all is.

One other thing. It's not really a cool approach or anything, but has anyone been to Pinal Air Park near Marana, AZ? It's a civil aircraft graveyard and Evergreen refurbishes heavies there. There are hundreds of 747's and DC-10's parked along the side of this little 5000 foot runway. Kind of cool. Sorry for getting off topic.

i have to say the visual (either bay or river) into pwm on a clear day lading to the west is awesome. just did it before christmas and a lot of the paxs said they enjoyed the view also. also saltillo mexico is great if you do it in the daylight. the terrain looks like it is right there.
