Been hearing not. More likely TPA, LAX, SMF, PHL, or maybe even SAN. DEN is probably out of the running.

I think SMF is currently off the list. It is our most expensive airport we serve. Time to give SMF a smack down like we did to SEA and ELP.

This is what I have heard from the higher ups. 717s will be moved out of Atlanta. Number 1 on the list is Nashville. The size of the Atlanta operation will be cut in half since it will no longer be operated as a "hub". LAX will most likely be the launch point to Hawaii from the West Coast. Management wants to max out aircraft utilization on the 800, so most likely the aircraft will not be based in LAX, but in some other city so ETOPs crews will do 2 legs to Hawaii. Management wants crews as close to 8 hours of flight as possible for the day. Large metro to large metro, then Hawaii. Guarantees max loads and max crew utilization. 5.5 hrs to Hawaii from LAX, so a 800 base within 2 hours of LAX is probable. DEN? Who knows.

Doesn't the system chief live in DEN?

Im hoping for MCI... then they hire a bunch of MCI locals. Fingers crossed!

was in smf last week, ops agent said some negotiators from dallas were in coming in that day or the next to talk to the airport about the landing fee.

does anyone know, did they raise everyone's fee or just ours? i know swa won a law suit yrs ago because lax raised only swa's fee's. if it was only ours i could see how we could go in an negotiate, if it was everyone's seems swa wouldn't have as much leverage.

He lived in C Springs. He had to move to take the new job in Dallas. He is a big DEN advocate. The asst chief in Vegas is a DEN commuter. He would most likely be chief in DEN were it to open. The company higher ups are no longer saying it's "NOT" Denver like they have been for several months. I have heard rumors the 717 will go to TPA...

I had an Ops Agent tell me in DEN yesterday we will be pushing 200 flights a day there, and may have to add 3-4 A gates if we can't get Delta to move out of C. Also, he said he's hearing the Denver MX base is back on... despite all those tax problems. FWIW

Their are a ton of MCI commuters now, BNA and MCI are two of our heaviest commuter cities, all J/s's always full is what I'm told!

Good luck,
KBB

After SAT, of course.
Let's close the napkin triangle and make SAT the next base. I STILL couldn't hold it, though...

Check airman on the js told us that BOS, TPA, and SAN were possible 717 bases. One of the three cities to be announced soon was Mexico city.

Email from the MEC:

November 8, 2011

Fellow Pilots,

As was announced yesterday, both ATN and SWAPA pilots ratified the Seniority Integration Agreement with a strikingly similar 83.6 percent approval by the 94 percent of ATN pilots and 95 percent of SWAPA pilots who cast ballots. With the vote complete, we now focus on the future.

As we’ve stated at the road shows, the next step will be the announcement of the second 717 crew base. Once that’s known, the transition bid will open. As of last week, the expectation was to have that information today in preparation for the transition bid, which was tentatively planned to open tomorrow. However, the company is still trying to determine where the new base will be located. Because of this, it appears the transition bid will open next Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Of course, this date is contingent on the new base decision.

In summary, there has not yet been a new 717 base announcement, and the transition bid will not open until one is announced. Fly safe and have fun.

In service,

Your ATN Master Executive Council

Where would the AT pilots ( majority ) want the second base? TPA,MCO, MDW,BWI ect. ?

I am not trying to flame bait, just curios

Also I doubt BOS. I think SWA will treat the AT pilots with kit gloves. Trying to make/keep happy. Base of choice, you will get a CP that is liked. ect...

I'd give my left testicle for SAN, and they could sell it on ebay with the proceeds going to charity!

FWIW I heard 717 TPA and 737 LAX. I really love commuting to the West Coast.

Would LAX be more popular than OAK or just as unpopular? I hope they put the base in a place where people want to live instead of where they don't. It seems that Denver would be pretty popular......what would be wrong with that? If you put a base in a popular place that will go senior it will free up vacancies in all the other bases so more people can get what they want. In any case, the more choices the better I think, it would be nice if there were 20 bases to spread out the seniority and minimize commuting to the extent possible. A few mini-bases would be an interesting experiment.

Denver has a lot of new ground equipment scheduled for delivery by the beginning of next year. Enough to equip the remaining Delta gates on the C concourse.

With the sale of F9 on the horizon, DEN has to become a base.

I would suppose a big part of the equation is O&D traffic for any new SWA base. The current basses are heavy O&D cities. Think big population centers.
