I have one. The more expensive type, $6.99. Has a dual time fuction, one of which is set to Zulu. Works great.Metro752 said:GO TO WAL*MART AND BUY ONE GRANT, $5.00 with a velcro band. BAW HAW AHAW HAW HAW!!
Ever heard of the B.W.L.D. theory?grantrobarts said:Anyone have any recommendations for a solid, very affordable watch? No real preferences, something reasonable on the price, though.
Thanks

Since the plane I fly has a clock in the dash, a clock in the ADF and one in the GPS, I have a Diver's watch...you never know when you might have to go down.
UnAnswerd said:I found the $30 Timex to be particularly useful. It has an analog face to which I set local time. It also has a small digital display, to which I set UTC. Admittedly, I am considering buying a $150 "pilot" watch. However, I'd probably never spend $300 for a watch with an E6B. That's kinda overboard.

My old Casio had a countdown timer, but this one doesn't have it. I wish it did. I believe the USAF is issuing a Casio watch to new pilot training students.
grantrobarts said:Yeah and those altimeters are inaccurate at hell.
UnAnswerd said:Really? What was the elevation???
Isn't the vibration from the engine stuttering enough to wake you up? It is for me.sky37d said:I have one of these. It vibrates, so I can feel the timer. I set the countdown timer for 45 minutes, and it vibrates, so I remember to switch back from the aux tanks.

I wish that was true. I cross many time zones in a week and sometimes forget where am at. I have a Citizens Blue Angles and it's great. The E6B is useless and no altimeter on this one but the time zones are great for my flying.

I would flight or duty time out, if I had to cross more than one time zone! I'm such a two time zone looser![]()
Really?
No, not really.![]()

yeah, but the idea is to not have the engines stutter, especially if you are final, on the glide scope, at night, in the soup. After that, I set the watch.FN FAL said:Isn't the vibration from the engine stuttering enough to wake you up? It is for me.
