I have one of these. It vibrates, so I can feel the timer. I set the countdown timer for 45 minutes, and it vibrates, so I remember to switch back from the aux tanks.
Isn't the vibration from the engine stuttering enough to wake you up? It is for me.

nor will you need more than 3 time zones.

I wish that was true. I cross many time zones in a week and sometimes forget where am at. I have a Citizens Blue Angles and it's great. The E6B is useless and no altimeter on this one but the time zones are great for my flying.

Ha! Anohter reason to fly a really slow plane for a living! :D

I would flight or duty time out, if I had to cross more than one time zone! I'm such a two time zone looser :(

Really?

No, not really. :)

A scratchproof chrystal is nice since you will scratch it for sure

Anyone have any recommendations for a solid, very affordable watch? No real preferences, something reasonable on the price, though.

Thanks

Omega Speedmaster Professional.

I don't wear anything else. Great watch.

yeah, but the idea is to not have the engines stutter, especially if you are final, on the glide scope, at night, in the soup. After that, I set the watch.

Sheesh!

Yer PILOTS! Get a pilot's watch! A Rolex GMT MASTER. Yeah, yeah...they're expensive. (And flying is soooo cheap!)

Do they keep good time?

Not really...

You wear it because nobody ever asked, "Is that a real Casio?"

The only people impressed by pilots are small children...and other pilots.

Look like one!

Not always accurate.

My feet are actually quite large.

(sigh)

I'll have to go with the velcro 30 Lap-Ironman Timex. I've owned two and they've never let me down. Stopwatch, 12/24 hr. clock, Indiglo, Alarm and Timer.

The only problem with velcro is that it tends to absorb all the sweat from your wrist over time and starts stinking after a while. After a few hand soap washes, its time for an $8.95 replacement strap. Otherwise, velcro is super easy to put on and take off if you're lazy like me, plus it's more comfortable on the wrist than those plastic straps that dig into your wrist.

Don't waste your money on an expensive "pilot" watch. I've got a friend who owns 2 Tag-Heuer watches - one in gold and the other silver - both cost over 2-3K and he never wears them. Nice but not practical.
