Did anyone see the USA TODAY article and graph today that showed how the majority of the flights at these two MAJOR airports are flown by regional jets!!!

Wow!! I wonder how whatever LEGACY that was allowed that to happen!!

Anyone know anything about this?:eek:
 
By Regional jets do you mean "mainline replacement jets?"

I've got nothing against RJ's taking mainline routes - as long as they are flown by the likes' of Delta, United and American.

That ******************** doesn't fly at Southwest Airlines.

It always interesting when you are number 20 for departure in those cities and 17 of those planes are Delta RJ's. Painful.
 
Why are Southwest pilots so concerned about what goes on at Delta?

Does the SWAPA contract allow outsourcing mainline replacement jets on the Hawaii islands or the Caribbean?

It used to be worse, but is actually getting better at both hubs. Look at Comair for example, which will be down to 44 total planes by next year. ASA has had to take planes out of ATL and put them to use for United at both ORD and IAD. All good news. But one thing that is good about the remainder of the feed is it helps keep you guys from expanding at those hubs too. No extra gates for you, unless you try to merge with the competition for big bucks and much "culture" disruption. What's the result? You get to be USair II with a couple more gates at the way out Humphries terminal in MSP, and you get to be a distant number two with about 1 terminal worth of gates at the World's busiest airport. Overall, you get strife and few short approaches. You lose.

Aren't you code sharing with AT until SOC? They are cheaper thanks to your culture busting 2nd offer, and they are the ones that seem to know how to fly to those international destinations. Good luck with USair II.
