abxdx, I for one am just darn happy that you went out and got all those options for us. Its a shame you couldn't work for Astar also. Look dude, they are employees just like us. They had as much input on the Daz plan as we do on the Joe show. NADA. Give a break, they are doing anything they can to stop the deal. Even if you don't agree, it is effort. If it makes UPS look at the plan and decide it is wrong to only look at the monetary issues at hand, then great. Let em at least try. Many business plans do look at other responsibilities other than just money.

I can respect what you are saying... But listen to me.. what are we going to do if the deal does not go through? Do you really think that this would work out for us long term? We need to find long term solutions.
I am not just talking about ASTAR here I am talking about ABX also. We should be looking into Asia, South America, the emerging markets. We need to be looking into Postal contracts etc etc etc...... I will be right behind you in the unemployment line if the DHL deal goes through and we have nothing else to turn to. All I am saying is NOW is the time to explore those alternatives, not waste our time trying to force a company to work with us, that has made it painfully obvious they do not want to.

Just curious mxer, but with acft we have out on the ramp waiting for the flat panel mod, how is the mx group looking as far as retention. Have you heard about any news of us doing the heavy checks for ATI or Capital.. or anyone else for that matter?
I think that if ATSG can get the MRO business going you guys have a bright future.

I'm wondering why you can't MYOB? We've weighed all our options, and chosen our course. You are, in your own words, "beating a dead horse".
We are minding our own business. Check out AV8OR's response at #35 and Flyinboxes at door #38. Your fellow ASTAR buds are the ones that won't let this alone. Don't worry what we are doing and we won't worry about you. Suffice it to say we are both actively working our own sides of the street. But you guys are right on one thing. We don't have any cute videos on youtube.

Just my opinion, but ABX guys at the hub, check out the new black cover Airwaves. Look at pg.21 lower left corner. See that little gray box with future options? Keep in mind ATSG is a public company with shareholders and see what option has the least risk with greatest return. Also note the competitor they list in option #2.

I think will keep trying for option 1 while we still can. In the same issue ABX has stated they have an option for DHL that will allow them to keep control of their network almost at the same rate they seek from UPS and lose their network.

Just my opinion and my choice.

abxdx, I'm not in maintenance. Thats not what the mx stands for. easy mistake. All I'm saying is that there really is no "we". There is only a "they" when it comes to the business plan. You and I and the guys over at Astar are just the pawns that are getting screwed over. We can only try in the ways that each side have been trying. Hopefully, if we can't block the deal, then Astar can. Either way, neither of us can make the Daz or Joe come up with a particular business plan. I hope they do come up with a plan, of course. I certainly don't want to start over at this point. My thing is, any effort to block the deal is good effort. If someone thinks going to work wearing their boxers inside out will block it, then thats what they should do.

You seem like a reasonable person. Since the ASTAR guys won't answer my question maybe you can. If we stop the UPS deal, then what? Clearly what DHL was doing previous was not working, so why would they go back to it. My feeling is that to block this deal will only buy Wilmington a year or two at the most if that. Long term solutions are what is needed, I have a lot of working years left and I see no value in continuing a relationship that will be short lived. Now is the time to push to for alternatives, while we still have some of that revenue coming in. Not saddle ourselves with all of DHL's problems for a few more years and then ending up with nothing. As I see it, all the ASTAR guys are doing is alienating themselves in the industry, not neccessarily buy suing DHL, but buy picketing UPS. What did they do but answer the call when DHL came calling. If you or I owned an airline and DHL came and offered a 1 billion dollar deal a year contract in a stagnant market we would jump all over it. My original post as you will see did nothing more than agree with BBB that ASTAR were going after the wrong group of guys. They then proceeded immediately blast me for stating my opinion and refuse to accept that the person who really screwed them was there CEO, by doing nothing to diversify there business, allowing DHL to buy 49% of the company, further lining his pockets with cash, and then in the end tells them "oh well we are shutting down when DHL goes away".

You do not have to agree with me, everyone is entitled to thier own opinion.
