My dad and uncle were making 6 figures in the right seat of a DC9 back in the early-mid 80's. Go get that salary.
It's a sad day when we all get a dollar raise and drool like a bunch of lap dogs. In the end, we still qualify for food stamps.

Why did your dad and uncle vote to give up scope and create a bidding war for those same jobs.

For those of you that wonder if our on-time will go up if the Pilots are motivated to help out, the answer is an unqualified "Yes."

Don't believe it. While no doubt it will help, there are still a lot employees (ramp and gate) who will not be affected by our new contract and will still continue to be sub par workers. Gaurenteed!!!

One thing is for sure. If this "signing bonus" has any type of clause in it telling me when I get it (besides DOS), or any type of percentage pay out over time (i.e. 20% this Christmas, 40% next Easter, 20% 2 Labor Days from now, etc.), it's a NO VOTE. If there's anything in there telling me that I have to remain an employee for x amount of months after the bonus is acquired, it's a NO VOTE.

LSU will not only make it to the national championship, they'll clobber Cal, Oklahoma, or USC, one of these will be the opponent. SEC rules baby!

Hoser
Roll Tide!

Clobber 'SC, Oklahoma, or Kal? They're having a pretty tough time with Tulane. Let's see them get by the Green Waves first.....

Wow. Really? I guess you couldn't afford the $10 to get a login on the football forum.

Let's get the vote done, and move on. This does seem to be a reasonable "package" just after looking at it briefly. Yes, we have to look at the finer points such as profit sharing, commuter clause, duty rigs, etc. However, overall the most important section, scope, is obviously something that should be examined more carefully, but that being said, congratulations to the CNC for delivering what looks like a comprehensive solution to our protracted negotations.

There will be many that will find fault with certain aspects, but I think this will most certainly pass, and we can get on with our lives, and strive to deliver a quality package to the travelling public.

Those that want to move on, fair enough, that's the way it generally works. Get your time, don't pass go, collect your 100 bucks and best of luck! If you end up cashing in $250k pa, and enjoy it, then good for you. There is no doubt that there is the opportunity to make a decent living, (and have a decent QOL along with it should you stick it out at ASA), but that may not be for everyone, especially the younger guys. The current industry model for major airline hiring is still very lucrative, and very well worth pursuing, but you still need that PIC turbine time!

Get the deal done, get your time now, and move on!
The rest of us, max out the 401k, fly until 65 if you have to (hopefully not!), and GTFO!

I'm not sure if this is right or wrong, but I have heard if it's a signing bonus, past pilots don't get any money, whereas if it were "retro", then they would be entitled to it..

What do you mean "past pilots"?
If you have already left ASA, then I believe that you would not be entitled, wheras if you are employed at DOS, then usually that means that you would have entitlement to the money. Just my take.

On this subject, does anyone know how a lump sum such as, say an $8000 signing bonus, would be taxed? I suspect a lot of it would go to Uncle Sam!

Aww, did I touch a nerve? It's kinda weird when you crawl out of your hole and find not everybody loves the Southeast Conference. Back to your fantasy land now. Sleep tight. Maybe the 'Cocks will beat Miss. State? Looking iffy right now.
