Realyman is correct. Another source of income would be a very wise choice. If you rely on this business to carry you through marriage, kids, and a nice lifestyle, you've already got one foot in the grave. If a side gig supplements or better yet supasses flying (not hard to do anymore) income, you'll sleep better at night and laugh at these industry cycles. Trust me, I know.

That is my point...Actually I would never cross a picket line, but I will not support a strike either.

I do laugh at what I hear from the union and at the airport. The reason I don't know about our negotiations is because I am busy making real money off the airport...outside of flying.

It is easy, but takes effort, to make more than flying in a side job. He11, I have made more already this year on my side gig than I will in all of 2004 flying for ASA...and that does not include the two deals I have next week, and two more next month...

If you are wise you will listen...I am giving away solutions to your problems...

I see by your info that you're at a regional. I'm impressed by what you already know w/ only 4500 hrs. You've found the secret to not only enjoying this lousy career but actually making solid cashflow despite it. Congratulations, you know what takes mainline guys years of uncertainty, paycuts, bankruptcies, furloughs, and stagnation to figure out. Most RJ pilots are going to learn this the tough way as THEY now become undercut, outsourced, and bankrupt. To think that 70% growth and quick upgrades were the norm. In a sick devious way, I find it amusing.

Absolutely absurd! Why should we have to work second jobs? Are you actually listening to your own arguements? Why not just work for free?

Strike, I'm ready, heck, I am eager.

Hmmmm. I don't think I'd bet my lunch on that.

Why work a second job???? Because of the reality of our jobs!!!!!! You can live in your fantasy world of pilots being paid high wages forever and not getting furloughed....with your two homes and two women

or make a real living outside of flying and not care what happens. You choose & stop complaining!

THanks, good day...

All I know is that I just got off a trip during this hurricane crap and when all said and done I got 4 extra hours of credit...up to 100 hours of pay and climbing!!!!

Not a bad contract....what have they taken away???
You certianly don't know much, but you do know something. Isn't it great that we have hurricanes all the time.

Hey Realyman,

I think it's great that you have an alternate means to pay your bills. A lot of us do not. Because of that, I'm a dumbass or should take the scraps from Skips table? I have a career, it's called flying. When was the last time you talked to an attorney that sold newspapers as a sideline? How about an auto mechanic that was a bartender at night? I'm not saying this doesn't happen, but give me a break. I payed my dues for a reason. Dip$hits like yourself, that are willing to say "ye'sir" everytime your management violates the contract, are almost worse than scabs. Hell, next week you'll be asking Drew if you can wash his car to get a job in the G. O. so you can be home everynight.

Let me guess, you probably had a fairly successful run at another career, then decided to join the ranks at a regional to wear a cool hat and tell your middle-aged neighbor's wife your an airline pilot? TOOL. I'll bet you never flew the 120 or the ATR. You probably newhired into the JET. I'm fairly confident that you either lied about your time or built it in the 172 you owned before you became an illustrious RJ pilot.

As for me, I'm a one-trick pony. So side gigs that make me more than my annual earnings at EV, aren't happenin'. I guess my uneducated, broke, country a$$ should just take what mgt gives me. Afterall, according to morons like yourself, I'm lucky to have such a great job. This ain't 1971 Pan Am, and the career's worth scrappin' for.
Fly 6-7 legs in wx all day, then offer your opinion. Fly 5 legs, get extended to do 6 and 7 on day number 4, then say something. By wx, I don't mean what you mean wx(circumnavigating a storm 50-100nm). Actually fly in it with crap not working and without your precious FMS. DO this, and I suspect your opinion regarding the company will change.
