Maybe a long shot but CR7 displacements were canceled today. Sounds like something fishy is going on to me. All the Crj-700 guys have to do to fly the 900 is watch a video or something? Thats why you didnt see the Crj-200 displacments canceled. Just food for thought......

Ya, saw that also. Thought it was a little weird. I hope we get them also.
I also heard that the 12 900's that Comair that was rescinded were given back to Pinnacle, has anyone else heard of this?

I'm pretty sure 79%N1 will be along any time now to spread doom and gloom on this! ;) . I immediately thought the same thing, but perhaps enough folks took Coma? Or early retirement? A longshot I know, just trying to play devil's advocate.

Hmm
Well, not enough for me to get a line on the 70. haha
All the old farts need to get out so we can move up.

I heard they were going back to Pinnacle, not ASA.
Have you heard this?

There's been no word on Pinnacle getting any of the Freedom -900s, and if we do they are not being "given back" to us.

Agreed. There has been nothing official that Pinnacle will recieve the 900s. CT said that ASA moved forward and that is ready to recieve airplanes. Minimal training required for current 700 pilots, but it's not just a take home cd or internet course. I'll believe it when I see one on the ramp with ASA's logo on it.

Agreed Cpt.
Hmm I thought there were a couple of sims involved with going to the 900. I jump seat on it all the time from Atl to Cos and it lands completely different then the 70. I can't see any differences in the ground training of it as it is 99% the same as the 70.
Length and width being different. I see that Skywest always lands with power down to 10 feet.

I agree I will belive it when I see it! Hey maybe were keeping the ATR's! lol But hey congrats to the guys that get to keep there seat!

To add to it, why would BM ,the guy who deals with this stuff, put the email out on a Sunday afternoon and holiday weekend?

Something is wierd.

Wow, this is strange. Here's some long awaited good news, perhaps? I'll believe something is going on with the 900's when one shows up on our ramp with an ASA logo on it.

Well, I'm flying on cloud nine, for the time being. I've got a trip tomorrow for downgrade training on the 50. However, now that there will be 9 people junior to me on the 70 seater, looks like I will get to retain my Capt. pay for the time being- with a slight pay increase for the 70. Looks like I'll be flying right seat in the 50 while I make cash money as a Captain on the 70. Who knows what's going on, but all I know is, I'm not as irritated and disgusted as I was a few hours ago.

I don't want to grow at someone else's expense, except for Mesa- no guilt there.

Hey maybe we got an RFP with the NOAA and we are going to be flying the ATR's into hurricanes! Thats probably more likely than us at ASA getting any new planes!

Hey....wait!

Why did I get the bad rap of doom and gloom????
I just usually call it like I see it. Maybe I'm like a dog thats been kicked too much, but....I'm usually right on the money!

Anyhoo...........Like usual, I would love to see something good happen around here! Like I said, the kumbyah around here will not last long if the hard work and extra efforts never pay off, and ASA pilots keep watching pilots at other company's keep benefitting while we stagnate and lose out. That said, I still don't see it happening. I am just too suspicious that being under Skywests iron fist, they will reap any new aircraft and keep shutting ASA out. Have we gotten any growth since Skywest bought ASA?

But anyway.......GO ASA!!!!

Racer, maybe they will stop using C 130's and they will hire our crews for hurricane hunting. Ya ya that's the ticket

Delta doesn't want some glorified Skywest airline flying their pride and joy 900's, when they can let some carrier like Peanuckle fly them for a 50 seat rate? I think the cancellation is due to the fact that the company has messed up the displacements so bad from the begining. We are shrinking folks. If you think Jerry will ever let his lemmings lose an airframe with a growth opportunity at ASA you are sorely mistaken. If I'm not mistaken, they still have an ATL base.

ASA must grow at some point or costs continue to rise. When, who knows? Things are a little different than they used to be around the ASA ranch. We don't have a retard running the place like we did a year ago, for starters. Costs are getting aligned, unfortunately, right now, ASA is having to spend money to save money. As costs align, growth will happen.

Still doesn't give you an exemption from being the doom and gloomer, 79%. Just a little FI jabbin'. ;)

Moroni Dirtbag moves into 79%'s place for being the doom and gloomer. We are shrinking on PAPER so far. But so is the industry Moroni. Belts are tightening, as we ALL knew the Fall is gonna be tough for the Airlines. Are you surprised at the fall schedule?

Yup, we are down three airplanes. Two 50's and a 70, wasn't it? :angryfire

Seriously, though, we are flying less, but at the moment, we are not shrinking.

Did someone say
SHRINKAGE..
Oh, phew.. not that type.. OMG!!!
:smash:

Something has to be up though- it makes no sense to up and cancel a displacement bid, especially when some of the displaced 50 seat Captains will now be making 700 pay. I guess we will see what is happening over the next couple of days. My gut says we are going to get some interesting news on Tuesday.

Oh yea, and someone was asking what it was all about regarding 700 to 900 qualifications. A friend that just upgraded in the last 700 class (while the 900 Program was in the works) was informed that all that is needed is a company published hand out with revised speeds.

I forgot about the captains getting paid 70 seat pay deal in all of this. That just makes it more so that something is up.

hopefully good news.

Haha- yea. The IP I'll be flying with tomorrow is gonna' be getting a lot of questions. He's probably as in the dark as the rest of us though.

It would be pretty gutsy to place CRJ-900's at the feet of a possible competitor, if the DOJ were to deny the merger, I mean. I don't see Delta mingling the two feeder systems togeather until Uncle Sam says "OK" to the merger. I believe someone has said that December is the expected time of approval.

Not to bring every one down but the only reason why this bid was CNX because all of the CR7 Capt could not swap trips on SKED+ if you look at the restricted days every fri thru mon were restricted because of low reserve coverage. I do think its a little strange that its what like 15+ Capt that get to stay on the 700.

The only thing I can think of, worst case scenario, is that there is a possibility we are getting some of the 900s. And rather than let all these displacements become final, they cancel the downgrades and pay them for another month until they're sure. This was the last day prior to the effective date, what happens procedurely when these Captains downgrade and have to come back, more training, ie more money?

But seeing how Jerry normally does business, my bet is they're pretty sure something is coming our way. I guess it's a good week to have recurrent...
