Why would a SEA ETOPS base decrease the amount of flying in SEA?

Because that's what their ouija board told them? Really I have no idea, but I have heard the same thing I've heard from several sources. Besides, look at the current position bid and supposed upcoming bids. They are definitely not increasing SEA.

I would be willing to bet, if a SEA ETOPS is opened, SEA will expand. The only reason they are displacing to ANC is that they need ETOPS pilots for the new HI stuff. If the new base is announced in enough time, I bet the 14 pilots would be displaced on paper only. The company can move your displacement by 2 months. So if you are displaced in one bid, and awarded SEA in another, you have a 4 month period that you will only exist on paper. I did this 2 years ago when I was awarded SEA then ANC three months later. I chose to never leave ANC even though I was awarded SEA.

Wow, I don't know where you guys are getting this stuff but I hope you are right. I can tell you I have heard the exact opposite from people who should know. I have been told we are actually over staffed due to the fact that everyone has been enhancing their lines. Staffing about right for the summer right now and about 25-40 fat by next fall. Yes, we will give the company what it wants its just what our union does.

I challenge everyone to drop to the reduced reserve coverage over the summer. Wouldn't that be fun for the company. Just one alternative for the reduced vacations.

Now I am hearing that the new bid coming out after the other one is posted will have a PDX base....don't shoot the messenger.

At a recent meeting, at least two high up executives said they would like a pdx base. I think if they can't get the sea etops base, they will go for pdx. They also said no matter what the solution is, there will have to be a recall of close to 28 pilots. I heard it from them directly, however, who really knows.

yes i think it would be best for furloughed, but if they open portland that doesn't mean there will be more slots in seattle...just because people transfer to pdx doesn't mean they have to replace them. that is the big question in all of this, how to they want to reallocate the flying?
