I have an interview with EJA in STL on April 25, 26 in STL. I would like to hear from anyone else who has an interview on those dates. I'm staying at the Marriott. Send me a message if you want to swap notes.

Thanks, and Good Luck!

Don't forget to post your experience on Aviationinterviews.com.

Also, what was your application timeline?

EMB145,

I put my resume in the first part of December. Two weeks later I received the application form and sent everything in around the third week in December. In the first week of January I received the letter stating I meet the requirements and would get a call for an interview. I received the phone call the first part of March for an April interview date.

I hope this helps, keep plugging along. If you received the letter stating you will get an interview, I was told that you will get a call, its just a matter of when.

Good Luck!

Passed up by yet another lucky soul....

I can't seem to figure that place out. I applied in November and received the "will call for interview" letter December 11th. I just talked to someone on the interview staff a couple weeks ago and they said they are just now getting to the apps. that came in during the first two weeks of OCTOBER! But Peardc10 applied AFTER I did and is getting an interview and thus passing me by. Now I was told that letters of rec. don't move you ahead in the pile at all...it's all first come first served in the order the apps. came in. So what gives? Is there some new math out there I need to know about. In case you haven't guessed, I still haven't heard a thing.

Frustrated out of work guy

P.S.- Congrats Peardc10 on your interview...good luck!

Still waiting too. I called in Feb. and was told the earliest I could expect an interview was late May. At that time they were working on the Oct. Apps. Got my letter around 12/15 or so. Peardc has a lot of time, maybe that's what they're looking for now. Still hopeful...

Thanx and congrats Peardc10. Good luck!

:)

Well let's see someone with ratings in DC10, B737, B727, LR35, CE500 - not a big mystery who's gonna get called first. It is not first sent, first interviewed - I've been waiting since Jan. too!!

please be patient. things have slowed down dramatically lately. the interview/hiring/training depts have been overwhelmed. they've taken some time to slow things down, get the guys they did hire trained and on the road.

also, the original forecasts showed high turnover numbers. however, with the major airlines not hiring (for the most part) pilots aren't leaving. also, the quality of new hires has gone up dramatically - it wasn't unusual to have a 25% washout rate during initial training (one class actually had 50%!). that number has gone to practically zero.

yesterday's class that finished only had six pilots. next week's class only has seven. these are the smallest classes we've had in years.

don't worry, the new planes are still being delivered at the rate of one every 5-6 days. if you're qualified, keep the app updated and give them a courtesy call every once in awhile. the numbers will eventually pick up again.

Thanks for the info - I know things are REALLY BAD! I have airline friends fighting over pizza jobs. I feel lucky I even got an interview letter from EJA, pilots can't even get an application from them anymore. Is the BBJ as much fun as it looks?

the bbj is a blast! it takes a bit more work to get ready and put to bed (mostly flt attdt stuff), but i'm having a lot of fun with it.

I saw you guys on Wednesday going West in N127QS through the Northwestern corner of Colorado at FL390. We were a bit above you going to the coast as well. You looked mighty good from where we were.

So how does a mere poor mortal get to fly a BBJ or my dream airplane the G-V (or any G plane)? Is amputation involved, tell me oh great ones?

i can only speak for the bbj - it's all done by seniority. we expect our first f/o bids to come out either later this year or early next year. forget about captain bids - need at least 10 years seniority to get that slot.

at eja we don't have any gv's.

Most GIV/GV jobs come through networking. However, being in the right place at the right time with the right qualifications sometimes works as well. Last time I went to the sim one of the guys in the class had just gotten out of the Air Force where he had been a C-5 driver and was hired as a FO for an East coast corporation. One of my friends was a C-12 driver in the service and just happened to be sitting next to a G-IV chief pilot on a commercial flight home who liked the cut of his jib. At one of the flight departments where I worked we had one FO that was hired from FSI with a type and no time and another who was hired from FSI Ab Initio training. One Midwest department recently hired a P-3 guy fresh out of the Navy who was just looking for a job in his home town. My Chief of Stan-Eval in a European assignment decided that 10 years was enough to give the Air Force, got out and went to live in Cincinatti where her husband was flying for DHL. Although she had only flown the C-141 and the C-21 after UPT, she applied at a large flight department in Cinci that was operating Gulfstreams and was hired.

One thing that all of these people had in common was that they represented themselves well, had a professional appearance, interviewed competently and showed a sincere desire to work for the company where they were applying. And, of course, they were lucky.

At Netjets, it is Executive Jet International at Bluffton, SC that operates the GV's.

Good luck...

By the way, the GV is a gas to fly. It's very powerful, very responsive and technically up to the minute. Many pilots hand fly it a lot because it is so satisfying to fly. On Wednesday, we made it from BOS to SFO in 5:17 against the wind. We went initially to FL470 and later stepped up to FL490. Normal cruise is .85 mach although we could only make .84 at 49,000 feet. We could have gone to FL510 for the last two and a half hours of the flight, but there was no need, most of the wind was gone at FL490.

At what hour level in the BBJ will your Captains-in-Training become PIC's? Have you guys created a pay scale for BBJ FO's yet? Did "SG" have to join the union to fly the BBJ? I just noticed where the contract for the Contract Line Orientation Training Captains has been extended. Is it true that they will have to bid out of the BBJ when their contract expires?

Good Suff, you truely are air gods!!

at 100 hours - we have two or three there now.

no

yes (and he hates it!), but he's mgt

the CLOT contract has not been extended - it's always been three years from date of hire. after that, they can bid any airplane their seniority can hold.
