Just curious if anyone has heard from NWA yet or is everyone still "Under Review"? A friend told me that NWA already had some interviews scheduled. Also does anyone have any idea of what the interview will consist of? Thanks for any info and good luck.

Trying to find out myself....I have asked some current pilots, so I will post if I hear anything.

Under Revew?

I have only received the automated response saying I would hear from them within 30-40 days. Has anyone else heard anything more than this?

Haven't heard anything. But I do know someone who had a phone "interview" prescreening this week.

Check that.

There are no HR people at NWA making calls to any of the current applicant pool. The Crew Planning folks are talking to a few individuals such as former ATI's and furloughed guys...but that's all.

That info comes from the interim manager of Flt Ops HR at 0945 this morning.

Interim? You saying Troy is gone?

Nah. Troy's still there. He's the guy in charge of hiring the ATI's and other forlks within Flight Ops. He's not the pilot hiring guy, though.

Same thing happened in '94. Marlene B. (RIP) was the on-scene HR worker...but moved to Second Fiddle as soon as pilot hiring started. HR brought in Marie E. to be the boss of the program. Marlene then worked for Marie. Marlene did interviews...Marie made the policy decisions.

We don't have a "Marie" yet. Hence, no policy decisions have been made.

Read today first interview is Aug 21. Haven't heard anything on the process yet. Will be a simulator to assess flying skill and CRM. Initially, competitive canadates are those with 3500+ TT, 2000+ ME, 1000+ PIC, 121 experience, and a 4 year degree. Will post more when info is available.

Talked to Troy and Michelle this afternoon.

The ATI's going to line start early next month. Pat S. (Safety manager) will be the first. The rest will follow. The interviews set for this month will be the "internals" (I didn't find out who they were).

The full HR cadre will be in place by the end of this month. No decision yet on the PCI. The quals of the apps on file are as you summarized.

(I was extra extra smiley and polite. I think I'm in!)

I didn't know that Marlene had passed away... What a truly nice lady she was. Interviewing with her was like sitting down for a cup of tea with your dear old aunt. I hope NW HR can find someone decent to fill her shoes.

Thanks for the updates Occam.

I talked to a guy who used to be a ground school instructor over at NWA. He's working the ropes to get back at NWA as a pilot so he's been talking to friends over there. They say the first class will be in October.

I beg your forgiveness, what is an "ATI" and "PCI?"
ATI is an instructor that is not a line pilot. They teach "ground school," labs and part-task trainers. They work at bldg T (NAATCO) and are not on the pilot seniority list. I think PCI was supposed to be PIC. They hadn't put out word on the PIC (Pilot in Command) quals. Cheers.

This just in:

The "Silver Bullet" program is back!

Active pilots can recommend a candidate, and get them "head-of-the-line" access to the interview (based on quals).

Some strings attached, but it's open online right now.

Need to use recommending pilot's email address to make it work.

If the candidate tubes it...no more "Silver Bullet" for the pilot giving the rec.

Poolies start interviewing tommorrow (not new candidates...these are the "old" guys)

Hi Occam's Razor

Thanks for the good insights you provide into NWA hiring. Though I'm not thrilled with how the legacies pay rates and work rules have been decimated post 9/11, I've got my application in, as NW would be a big step up from my current job. We'll see what happens as they screen things over the next 30-45 days, I'm hoping to get called as I more than meet the requirements (almost 6000tt, 1200 turbine PIC). Either DTW or MSP domicile would work for me, I'd be content relocating there and with the reserve life....

FCN.

What do you mean tubes it?

The interview or training? Just curious.

Just wondering???

I was offered employment by NWA in May of 2001 but never made it to class (Still have the congratulation letter). Then after 9/11 I did get the letter that said they would contact me again when they resumed hiring.

Well, I am still waiting??? For those of you that are in the same position and was waiting for classes, when did you interview and what did they say about the interview process this time around.

Thanks.

Check you address with them!

The pilots getting called in tommorrow are those who were in the pre-9/11 pool.

At any time after they receive your recommendation letter...to the recommendee's "Off Probabtion" date.

If you cough-up your NWA ID during that time...your Sugar Daddy loses his recommending superpowers.

What do you by "tubes it"? If he doesn't pass the interview? If he fails training? Doesn't make it through IOE? Quits in the first year?

I can understand the last three, but if a guy doesn't get hired, it seems unfair to penalize existing employees if a guy screws an interview up or doesn't have the magic to get hired.

I don't understand what you mean by "penalize"?

You recommend someone. They don't get hired...or they goon it before they're off probation. You can't use your head-of-the-line recommendation fora year after that.

That's a "penalty"?

What is the penalty? Do they cut your pay? Make you bid red-eyes? How exactly are you harmed by losing your recommendations for a year?

What am I missing here?
