I would give the Capt. a chance to explain himself. Maybe he's going through a divorce, and the delayed CLT roundtrip was preventing him from getting back home earlier to try and salvage a marriage? Or he lost a family member?

Maybe some compassion to see if the guy is going through some difficult events in his personal life?

Either way, I'm sure he's already learned some valuable lessons.

Maybe he's just another a%shole.

That is inexcusable and embarrassing.

Hopefully the CP will put it into terms that will make him and all of us think twice.

Maybe he and Mr. Carolina in my mind should get together and open up a flight school.

The captain can (and probably will be) violated for sterile cockpit...we had a guy several years ago with a stuck mike get violated for talking...I'm sure the kindler gentler FAA will say that yelling at the controller was not safety of flight related...poor FO...

You talking about GGG? How's that knob doing these days?

Actually I wasn't! Lol forgot about Rico Suave....we had another guy with a stuck mike on the ground in a Florida city while on the taxiway. But both are good examples! Lol

does it matter?

Good answer

I still hope the chief is still able to just give out a time served sentence
"Alright, see that? National news embarrassment. Lesson learned, everyone is watching everything. And all is recorded. No melting down on Tsa. No arguing with the drunk pax who ends up bitch slapping you. And no going off on ATC. Got it? I now sentence you to the ridicule and beat downs of your peers for making us all look like do^chebags."

With national news coverage, I really doubt that's an option anymore
We all know, nothing in this world is more important than the opinion of a journalism major about things they know nothing about.

Seriously- not condoning but... The controller had a chance to diffuse it immediately too.
We've all heard worse

By the way- as for SWA - he was inbound and apparently it didn't matter- L or M would've mattered for departure bc of 2422's delay-
Controller could've let it go a few seconds longer.

Here's how I handled my faux pas in the Atl on the north side. Controller " turn right on Echo" I goofed up and turned right on Foxtrot, oops. Controller " what part of Echo are you on?" He wasn't happy. I said the Foxtrot part of Echo. After he was done chuckling he said " well I need you on the Echo part of Echo". End of story , didn't even make the local news!

Then there was the time I turned onto AA instead of BB at LGA during a big push.

It did not go well.

My bet is he just had a prostate needle biopsy.....anyone would forgive him!
Your options are;
Piss in your diapers
And no more erections
Or die

Wasn't it 2 F/O's that put the -ER on the taxiway. Captain sick in back. Can't recall.

No, I believe a check airman was sick in back, resulting in no breaks for the Capt and FO on the allnight flight. I suppose the Capt was getting a theatre check out down there.

Bye Bye---General Lee

No excuse for ldg on a taxiway, none. This incident could have been a disaster if another plane had been on that taxiway. Sure they had a med emerg. So?

When they initially called for taxi, or beginning to taxi, I think they had a delay to CLT. May have set the Capts mood to start, not an excuse for the outburst though. ATL controllers are pretty much by the book and demand read backs, hold short instructions, etc. nothing wrong with that. This deal was just correcting the pilot 'cause he taxied wrong. As far as directions in ATL you taxi just about straight to join M so why would the ctlr say via perpendicular taxiway whatever is there at Ramp 3. The 'Capt Happy' comment was funny. And then another Delta pilot asked if the ctlr wanted him on M or L in jest, and the ctlr was chuckling at that too. Just another day at the airdrome!

Oh yikes! A delay taxiing out in ATL? That never happens.
