Were you at Trans States when the Gojet thing was going down? I was, and as I recall, that whole operation cost 60 of my co-workers their jobs... Now I'm sure we can argue endlessly about pay rates, overrides, and whats considered a quality wage, but I dont think Skywest not voting in ALPA is going to get anybody furloughed...

The regionals being the $hithole they are has contributed to many, many extended furloughs at the majors. The no voters at Skywest aren't responsible for the situation; they just voted for it to continue.

Again, how exactly, if Skywest had been ALPA, would that have prevented the majors running their operation on minimum staffing and keeping as few pilots on property as was absolutely necessary? Thats what caused extended furloughs at the majors.. changed business models with far too much outsourcing to regionals.. Not unionized representation at Skywest or any other regional..

And last time I checked, all the majors are hiring except American... so how does this vote prolong the situation you're refering to?

i'm with ya but i think it was actually 72, not to mention the 60 fo's that escaped during the same time, but who's counting

As DashTrash said, the way an uprepresented Skywest operates has harmed many pilots. regional and major alike (ie jetblue set rates off the 99 for 50 skywest rates, skybus/virginA point to these rates and pseudo scabs like the 65% continue lowering the bar)....harmful agreements and an undercutting group that primarily benefits mangagement ripples throughout the industry for years to come. We dont live in a vaccumme. Anyway, I'm done here.

Im embarassed to say it is, what up PL...

Nada man...wasting time on stuff that doesn't directly concern me. As usual.:D

I wish ya'll had voted for representation as you know from our chat, but I also realize it ain't my sandbox and I respect the decision of the SKW group against ALPA. Its time for us all to move forward against the issues facing us individually as groups and together as a collective of small jet pilots.

Of course none of this will stop me from letting you buy the beer next time we bump into each other...

Wow...that was...diplomatic. I've never seen such diplomacy on FI.com. :D

Hey, everone is invited to a BIG party at a certain houseboat on Lake Powell tonight!

BYOB and keep your hands off SW if you don't want to incur the wrath of Brad.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it would take a Skywest captain (at the 50 seat rate) 12 years to make what a JetBlue 190 1st year captain makes...and a Skywest FO (again 50 seat rate) could never make what a JetBlue 190 1st year FO makes...how exactly do the two payrates reflect each other again?

Also, Skybus's business model and pay rate have been beat to death on these forums, and I dont care for either of them.. but I dont see how Skybus, a company who is based on RyanAir in Europe, is effected by what Skywest does. You could also subscribe to the theory that if its that bad, nobody would work there, right?

Way to go. I guess you all really are happy being a bunch of coat tail riding scabs. Good luck on your career at SkyWest Airlines.

John,

I'm really kinda surprised at your comments. You really should think twice before calling us scabs.

Wow.

No, I'm pissed. Y'all just don't get it. You want to flip off the rest of the industry instead of getting on board, fine, prepare to live with the result of your actions. Scab.

Ive never understood this argument.. Since when can Skywest ride on the coat tails of other ALPA regional carriers such as MAG, PSA, and TSA that have lower pay and worse work rules than us? Wouldnt that mean that they would strive to be more like Skywest?

Is there something Im missing here?

Um ASA? Hello?

Hey guys, with so many airlines at ALPA it's easy to point out the failures, like ASA, even though they were A: In Bankruptcy, B: SOLD!

Either way, it's over, so as pilots, we need to move on and work together...

Could you give the dates we were in bk, because I MUST HAVE MISSED IT.

Here, here.

Its over.

This is not not the time to for name calling and infighting. There are a lot of people who are dissapointed, but if we are serious about this whole "unity" thing we need to grow up and treat each other with respect. As long as we are busy trying to keep each other down we are doing managment's job for them- they get paid the big bucks, lets expend our energy on something more noble.

To the ALPA brothers who worked on SKYW: Thanks for your help, it's like people say about leading a horse to water, you can't make him drink.
Yes you can, you tie his head to a fukking cement truck and drive it in to the lake!

I just love how all the Skywest pilots are on here saying yeah its over, just move along and forget all about how we stabbed the entire profession in the back, now lets work together. BS! If yall wanted to work together you would have voted in ALPA, obviously you're just hoping that Jerry continues to find you in his favor. No thanks, don't want to work with you, nor beside you, you all are a bunch of starry eyed losers, hope you all are stuck at Skywest forever, blackballed by the rest of the industry.

Exactly.

There's a saying: "Bargain together or beg alone".

I suspect the SkyWest pilots are about to feel VERY alone.

Is this guy really a profesional pilot??? Stop freaking crying!!!!

And the scumbags just keep coming out of the woodwork... Suddenly emboldened by their pilot group's decision.

This must be your 30th post in 30 minutes... Seems like this vote has just ruined your life... Sounds like you should just put the pistol in your mouth and put yourself out of your misery... The No vote is'nt that bad.. I could think of much worse...

So now I am a scumbag? You don't know me...

Let it go dude. Look at his profile. Join date of Feb 06 and 2722 posts. Crap, that's about 130 posts per month. This guy obviously has no life. Probably hasn't left his computer long enough to get laid. Who do you think the loser is?

Yeah... that's right. I'm well known among my pilot group. Clearly NOT among yours. Whatever you want to think, pal.
