So.... what you are saying is......you have no clue!

Quarter1 conference call suggests this myth is BUSTED.

Why in god's name would Mesa want a bunch of junkstreams anyway? And due to our scope clauses, whipsawing would simply not be an issue. The acquired airline would be merged immediately with our seniority lists.

Mesa HAD the perfect shot at a COEX codeshare with the recent RFP that went to Republic (we fly ERJ's and CRJ's - 50 seaters and lots of them): we are dirt cheap, our CEO used to work there, and they still said "thanks, but no thanks." It's like they know something about mesa or something . .

Unless there is some sort of "guaranteed" EAS revenue stream, I can't imagine Mesa being the slightest bit interested in this acquisition.

Trans States should buy it, They still have Jetstream 31 parts and since gojets turned down the TA Hulas needs another Whipsaw

the continental and regions contract was cancelled from what i understand.

Yea 3 saabs, 1 to fly and 2 to butcher parts from. It was cancelled.

Last time I checked, Regions had four Saabs.

Taildrager, it would jive with the rumors about Mesa. Don't worry, that "Scope Clause" has an ALPA stamp on it. It'll get torn up quicker than a Kleenex at a snot party when JO is done with it. Just keep it mind that Mesa needs Regions pretty badly. Mesa is a cashcow just waiting for Regions and the Teamsters to tear into its belly and feast on the innards. LONG LIVE REGIONS!!!

From what I gathered, the Teamsters will only accept a contract with a fair inegration. This means that Senior Captains at Regions will be assigned a Mesa seniority number somewhere near the top, and likewise for the FO's on the FO seniority list. This ought to at least ensure Regions pilots get a fair shake regarding their respective careers.

REGIONS + MESA = Working to build a better tomorrow....TODAY!

OK I stand corrected 4 saabs, the rest stays the same except 1 to fly and 3 to butcher parts from. TSA would never buy regions because uncle hulie wants an all jet fleet, even if it means pissing off your workers, furloughing, displacing captains, parking airplanes. Even with a fair integration into Mesa seniority list, they could put a fence up so that regions guys could never fly any of the jets, limited to props. AA did it with TWA guys, TWA did it to Ozark guys, im sure lots of others mergers have created these fences as well.

JO will get what he needs, regardless of any ALPA endorsed contract. The Regions teamsters are already negotiating payscales for the jets.

Teamsters-Management Negotiations

It sounds like this last meeting went well. The two sides are working on hammering out numbers for 76-seat pay. It looks like Regions pilot will be kept on a seperate certificate, which kind of stinks. But it will be a deffinite improvement over first year FO pay of $17/hr. It looks like the new horizon is finally near for Regions pilots in terms of better equipment/pay.

This sucks! So, Regions is just being bought to create another GoJet & Freedom Air? You guys and gals that are still there need to fight for an industry average (if not leading) contract before you're used as a whipsaw company.

FLUSSSSSSHHHHH.......

Ooohh did you hear it?? That is our careers going down the toilet...

I wouldn't mind a "fence" - I'd love to fly the Dash 8.. :D

So how did the meetings really go?

Is there any end in sight or what?

I still don't see why you care about regions soo much.. :)

Weren't you only here for like, 2 months?

No matter what equipment wqill be flown in the end (think BIG CRJ) the end result is that Regions is will still be a REGIONAL. I don't care how you want to spin it, the QOL of ANY regional sucks donkey nuts. Any a-hole who says other wise is just that...an a-hole

Nope he was talking to me. About four months from start of class to quitting. I was the first one from my class the leave. Everyone from my class was gone within ten months, except for one. The reason I keep up with it so much is that I met some great people at Regions, thankfully all the ones I know are gone now except for one female Saab Captain. I would not wish Regions on anyone, well anyone I like anyways. Well except for a guy that has toughed it out and is praying for just one more upgrade class before it gos belly up :) . There are so many better jobs out there, and I never thought I would say this, Mesa is one of them (relatively).

Way2Broke...have we met?

No, he left before we got there.. Unless of course, you met somewhere else.. :D

Way2 I could not agree with you more...I feel bad for the people who are still at Regions, hanging on. I know the female Saab captain you are talking about...she should be gone soon. She has another offer... Hey, I stayed a little over a month, I just walked away from something that was way too messed up for me. I saw the writing on the wall from day 1. Walked away and 3 days later walked right into something so much better.

For the people who can afford to stay, it will be worth it. Regions isn't the worst airline out there...not by a long shot. Who can complain about a 2-on, 5-off schedule? The only time MX became an issue (which was quite often, and the reason for many gripes) was when it threatened to strand a crew at their base in the middle of a sequence, resulting in them paying for their own hotel. Other than that...no "pilot pushing." Regions will emerge from this a stronger airline. They will have the financial backing they need, they will have better equipment, better pay, and they will be able to upgrade again. Only the age old question remains...WHEN? Is it a month from now? 6 months from now? Go ask Mr. Owl.

Is there any OFFICIAL word that Regions is being purchased? Different between being purchased and a merger. Merger could be a good thing, purchased could be a bad thing for employees.... Look at TW/AA. Granted Regions is far from that scale of an acqusition but without any OFFICIAL notification..at this point who really knows what will happen.

I am glad I got off the Regex ship while it was still floating but taking on some serious water. Heck, im glad im out of the Airlines themselves.

If you talk to that Female saab captain, let her know that ATCT says hello.

Good luck former-fellow Regex guys and gals.
