I'm not mean, I just really don't get why people work for regionals. I did it when I had no time. You have 4,500 hours in the right seat. You have time, so now why do it?
First of all you ARE MEAN and you are condescending and you are self-righteous. I have read many of your posts here. You have such a grudge against the regionals and attack and insult people who work for them, especially American Eagle. As regionals go, we probably have the best pay, schedules and work rules out there.
To answer your question, people work for regionals because:
A) They want to. Some people such as myself LIKE the airlines, get great schedules and more time AT HOME than you do. A lot more and I'm never gone for more than three days. 7-day trips? Forget that man! We enjoy nice hotels, a company that rarely if ever calls us during rest periods or days off, cannot punish us for being sick or fatigued. NO CDOs, NO all-night flying. The latest I've ever parked a plane here, by schedule is about 11pm. Plus I have a union that will not allow the company to punish me without extremely good reason and will fight to get my job back if I am terminated. If I call in sick, the company cannot even ask me what's wrong!
Unlike your company, my upgrade is by SENIORITY and not who the Chief Pilot likes best. Our schedules are awarded by seniority. When my number is up to be captain, I will be a captain even if the CP and CEO and BOD don't like it. Tough. And my seat cannot be taken away from me except by displacement which effects everybody. I feel VERY secure here at AE.
B) The pilot job market blows. For the people that want to move on, where do you suggest they go? Not even your crappy little 200-pilot,
no-money making company is hiring. According to the RAA, there are 21,000 pilots working for the regionals. You're so insistent that they leave, where do you suggest they go? And without turning their lives upside down so don't give me this Emirates or Vietnam Air nonsense. Some people value their homes and families.
Is upgrade right around the corner?
For me it is but I probably won't take it for a while. I'll wait until I can hold a line as captain. Not everybody wants or needs your precious PIC time. Why can't you understand that people are different than you and have different wants and needs.
Not everybody is 25. I'm 46 and not looking to change jobs any more if I can help it. A lot of guys 45+ feel that way. That's a GOOD thing for the 30 year-old pilot. He won't have to compete with people like me for that job at a Major or a Fractional that actually pays well, unlike yours.
My intent was.... to tear down regionals to help them realalize there are other avenues and paths to take in aviation.
Why do you feel the need to "tear down." Do you think pilots are so dumb that we need YOU to tell us what else is out there. We know what's out there, we know the state of the industry right now. The fact that not everyone wants YOUR job just galls you for some reason.
People should be allowed to work where they want without being degraded from by a self-righteous jerk who makes half of what his fractional counterpart PICs make yest still brags about his laughable pay. Captains at Flex and NJ make $140,000. Their FOs make more than you, hahahaha!!!
Lastly, you are a Fractional Pilot, so WHY must you spend so much time berating us in the Regional forum. Go to the Fractional forum and leave us alone!
