“yet” means delay. Political Spin and Cover by ALPA National. There is no way that ALPA will jeopardize the integrity of the ALPA bylaws. They will defend the award – they have too. If ALPA disregards their bylaws, the whole house will fold. Can you imagine what other ALPA carriers would do? OK ALPA national threw out that section. We (read other carriers) want them to throw out this section/that bylaw as well. Prater is really on thin ice here. Trying to look like he is “carefully managing the issue”, but also not screwing it up. He doesn’t want to be the last ALPA Leader. OK, it ain’t a democracy, but the union still runs on rules or members go looking for other representation. Taking member dollars with them. ALPA national can’t have 100,000 pissed pilots. They already have 1/2 the members upset at the smoke generated on Age 60.

The vocal minority out East is just that. A Minority. Expect that when ALPA National meets to discuss it later this month, it continues to drag out. Stall and let time move on. Any public relations expert will tell you to drag it out. The East is rejoining contract talks and when we get real close on a new combined contract the East Majority will drown out the East Minority. Again the top 515 East Captains are numbers 1-515 on the new seniority list. They want a new contract now. All this ranting and raving from the East Minority is just that.

No we aren’t worried that the East is going to burn the house down. We are making ok dollars out West and have way better work rules by far than the East does. The East likes getting paid just like every other pilot does and won’t jeopardize their income … and where are they going to go? A 21 year longevity pilot likes to stay where he is or he would have left a long time ago. They have stayed at US Air out East on the hope that some day it would get better, that day is here and now they want to muck it up. The Majority will not let the Minority burn the house down. It will get better.

You don't know the evil that lerks in the heart of the average USAir pilot,do you?

Seems like there is a confusion here about seniority vs. longevity.

AAA guys definitely have LONGEVITY. Sadly, their 1988 hire's SENIORITY holds a position of a narrowbody FO on reserve.

And that is exactly the fact that they refuse to accept.
