I read Bob Woodward's book, it was pretty complimentary of the President and his cabinet and their anaylsis for going to war.
Why shouldn't the rich get a tax break? They are the folks that are paying 37% of their earned income to fund the country. Also, they are the folks that create jobs by way of investments and businesses.
I got a tax break and I'm not in the top tax brackets. I didn't put the money in my tank, I used it to fund my IRA. And I was **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** thankful to have the money.
500 Billion dollar deficit. Right now it's keeping our economy safe from deflation. Also, our current deficit is a lower percentage versus our GDP than we had in the 70's. And when have the Democrats EVER worried about a deficit in the past. I'll remind you dems that the we entered recession BEFORE the Bush administration was even in office.
Notice Kerry hasn't been beating the drum on jobs and economic growth lately? Wonder why? The economy has picked up nicely and the job growth has been very good, with economists saying it looks like it will continue. I guess supply-side economics does work.
Health care for everyone? I can not imagine a more socialistic idea. How about this: You work and pay for your own health care. Pull your own weight, that's what Capitolism is all about. This is NOT Holland, France, Germany, Russia or Belgium.
Illegal imigration problems? Yup, we got em and both sides don't want to address the problem as they don't want to look like they are shutting out potential future voters. Both parties need to be head slapped on this problem.
What's going on in Iraq?
Positives first: Saddam is gone. Schools are open. Electricity is on. Water is running. Hospitols are open. Banks are open. New currency(without Saddam's face on it). They have their own stock market! Oil is flowing(with the exception of the occassional disruption by the insurgeants). Saddam is not gassing and murdering any more of his own people or neighbors.
Negatives: 7-12 US Soldiers embarrassed the country by doing some stupid stuff. No one got killed though. US soldiers continue to die, and it is a sad thing but this is WAR.
Yes I have a relative in the Marine Corps over there and he says things are going well. He has even re-upped. He says they no longer watch CNN/NBC/ABC/CBS because it's bad for morale and 99% of what they say is NOT true. Let's not forget that Saddam had 12 years and 14 UN resolutions (including 1441) to disarm and provide proof that he destroyed his WMD (which by the way he admitted to having), he thumbed his nose at the entire world.
I will always stand up for the right thing and not be swayed or bribed to do the wrong thing. Unfortunately France, Germany, and Russia can not say or do the same thing. You are either honest or you are not, there is no gray area in honesty.
Where are all the people that were saying that this war was all about oil? Has the US seen one drop of Iraqi oil? Has the US made one dollar off Iraqi oil? Personally I think we should split the proceeds right down the middle, 60-40. That wasn't the deal however, and we're sticking to the deal.
For the people that make the argument that there have been no WMD found: They are either in Syria, Iran or buried under the desert in a country the size of California. Sooner or later they will be found. I guess the ricin laden 155 shell that was used against our troops is a lie too.
