I read the posts here all of the time and rarely feel moved to write. But the first and second hand info I've heard the last few days on my trips is interesting. Namely, all of the AQ Big wigs from CEO to CFO returning en masse from Vegas quite happy. Apparently they met with a major casino operator (Boyd Gaming?) and Banmiller was "optimistic" whatever that means. Also talked to a fellow pilot who had John Adams on his a/c also returning from Vegas. Of course, Adams may simply be afraid to fly HAL in case they roughed him up in the lua, or there may be something to this. I too have talked to union "officers" and heard no mention of Sun Country, only talk of anonymous interest from who knows where, and of course the pain coming to our future earnings. The concessions will put us beneath everyone's payroll, so I don't see how it leads to Sun or anywhere else specifically. As for the big announcement, we all remember last years less than fulfilled expectations, and yet the folks in the red brick building seem to believe one is imminent. Very interesting.

The Adams story was made up

Once upon a time Ryan Int. flew DC-10 SFO-OGG-HNL-SFO, then later flew out of OAK for SunTrips...Then came along North American with 757's...Even though they had less seats, they were cheaper, hence Ryan Int lost the contract..Now just recently Ryan regained the contract with 757's and now North American is flooding cheap seats in order to do something with this 757. The point is these Charter / Travel agencies are always looking for a better deal...Hence it is not out of the possibility that AQ was able to under cut Omni on theri LAS-HNL route and get a contract.
I have no knowledge of this, but just saying this changing on Travel Agency contracts goes on all the time...

Again, once upon a time Ryan Int was flying large numbers of A320's for Apple Vacation...No USA 3000 is...The beat goes on...

There is no way AQ could possibly undercut the likes of North American, Omni, Ryan, or any other non sched flying these charters. 737's just don't have the capacity. DC 10's, even 757's are much more economical for charters when compared to the 737.

Anyone know the scoop with the new routes?

I heard additional SNA-HNL frequencies (a red eye) and SAN-HNL.

So, sending back the 2 -700s or not?

Things change way too quickly around here for a company so adverse to change.

By your bio A320/321 F/O , IRO, I can assume you are at either Ryan or USA 3000.

Regardless, I didn't say AQ could undercut OMNI, I am aware of how low those airlines labor structure is... But Just like UAL has a portion of their ORD-HNL, DEN HNL, SFO-HNL & LAX-HNL seats presold to vacation tour companies ( forget the name but it's the cruise line out of HNL ), perhaps AQ made a deal to sell some seats???

The scheduling is way too inefficient. They could serve one city 3 times a day with two aircraft, if they flew redeyes out of HNL...So theoretically AQ could return 2 700's and actually increase flying...

from the Pacific Business News...

Aloha to fly more California flights; drops Burbank, Vancouver

Aloha Airlines plans to increase its daily flights to and from California as part of its route restructuring efforts, the company announced Friday.

From April 3, Aloha Airlines will fly five times a day from Orange County to Hawaii, as it tries to lure away passengers on other airlines departing from Los Angeles.

Four flights will leave in the morning so that visitors can still clock in a day at the beach on arrival.

"An in-depth analysis of Aloha's routes and schedules revealed a strong demand for our brand of trans-Pacific service from Orange County to Hawaii," said David A. Banmiller, Aloha's president and chief executive officer. "We are confident the market will continue to grow as Southern Californians become aware of the comfort, convenience and quality of Aloha's flights to Hawaii."

Also, Aloha will add a daily flight to San Diego from Honolulu starting April 3. This is in addition to its daily nonstop between San Diego and Maui, launched Dec. 15.

Aloha will discontinue its Burbank and Vancouver services and use that aircraft for its California flights.

Effective Feb. 1, Aloha's Burbank-Reno service will be suspended. On April 3, all service from Burbank will be discontinued and on April 11, Aloha's service to Vancouver will be terminated.

Well I guess that was the "big" announcement. But since they saidtheywere going to re-deploy the south Pacific aircraft, it is reallynot that big. They just finally got around to telling us there-deployment plan.

I still don't see anything about Sun Country in there.
