Sleepyhead said:that is a red-herring. If they do that, they might as well just shut down. They already gave a bunch of flying to WP and they have admitted that the yield in the inter-island market is very low. It also says in the BK papers that once they re-organize there are a number of market opportunities they can take advantage of.
Banmiller has said numerous times he wants to add some mainland destinations. He is going to use the old tactic of saying "we can't expand until you guys give some concessions". Also, Nutly has a background with those vacation package companies. You can bet when he gets some concessions you will see the new marketing plan.
our interisland loads are good. most of my flights are completely full or only a few open seats. the yield is low in part because of the lease rates on the 200s are huge. the supposedly recently reduced the leases by 2/3s.. down to where it should be.
i think that those options about shutting down transpac are in there because its an option.. not necessarily their plan. they are trying to address the various options because i think at this point, they have no idea what direction this will go in. they want to add mainland destinations, but they may be faced with scaling back. i dont think they have much rudder authority at this point.
yea.. nulty has his plan i'm sure. if you want to see our future, look at what he sells and for what carriers. he sells the cheapest seats on the market. look at the labor contracts of those airlines he sells seats on. thats where we're headed. our seats will be sold thru his company when they are the cheapest available on the market at the time. the only way to do that is to wait til the rest of his inventory runs out or to have the cheapest contracts to subsidize our seats being the cheapest and on the top of the list.
