I've been here over 3 years and have had no trouble commuting at all. We are CASS, and I have used Southwest, Airtran, American, Delta and FedEx. The only difference would be commuting for SFB, PIE, UTA or IFP, you will have to commute to a different airport and drive to these bases. It seems normal now and I've had little trouble catching flights that are around an hour from my scheduled "in" time, even if it's a 35 to 45 minute drive. Amazing that I have had no speeding tickets either.

You can ride UPS to PIE. I haven't asked our J/S coord lately, but she was talking to Jeff H and I think it is all worked out.

Can any of you Allegiant pilots provide an example of what a typical month might be for you? What would a "commutable line" look like? Overnights or all out and backs with a crashpad? What about reserve? 2 hour call out?

Lines really do vary depending on the base and the season. Lines can be anywhere from 70-90+ hours and generally 12-17 days off for a line holder. My line starts late and ends early so it would be commutable at both ends. Many lines allow you to commute same day on one end or the other. With a few exceptions day trips so you finish in base each day. If you commute that means a crashpad in base. Reserve is 10 days off. 1 hour callout. Quite a few commuters at AAY, including myself. As previously mentioned there are some challenges to your commute at AAY. With planning I don't feel like it's any more difficult than when I commuted to my previous carrier that had a more traditional schedule.

We have a commuter policy. You must list on at least two flights that give you ample time to report for your trip and may only use the policy twice in a rolling 12 month period.

Is IWA (Mesa, AZ) a senior base or can newhires bid it and get it? I like the 3 huge runways - I imagine fewer delays. I once saw a C-5 doing touch and goes there.
