Ok ladies and gentlemen, the wheels of our training dept are spinning up faster then they can get it ready. We are in hiring mode once again. The magic numbers that I have been told are 2500tt and up with an LOR, for those of you with 3000tt plus and some 121 exp the sim ride will be waived. Folks we are a TOP NOTCH OUTFIT!!!!!!! with the best contract in the industry at this level. Unlike a lot of those carriers out there we work well with our Mgt. Many Many pilots retire from AWAC after 25 to 30 years of service not because they can't get hired else where. I think that speaks volumes about this place. If you have a friend here or know someone that knows someone here, NOW is the time. Hope to see some of you here and tell'em TrickDaddy sent ya:cool: they'll know.

Hey Trick Daddy, glad to see you are healing well or are you still getting your son to type. See you on line soon.

Thanks, no he refuses to do it any longer. I am felling better but I still have the six stiches and little range of motion but I am pushing it to try and get back ASAP. I am kinda going stir crazy, I haven't flown in two months and it's really wearing on me. I look forward to getting back SOON...

TD:cool:

Hey guys, Ihave heard the same about Air Wis, I would love to get on with you guys but unfortunately I am still too young for an ATP and dont know anyone there for a LOR, I would appreciate some feedback on my possibility. Thanx!!!!

Ok here is the deal with that. The ATP is SUPER IMPORTANT, without they can't do much with you. What I am saying here is that we are a REAL AIRLINE and our contract is not designed to upgrade people around you out of seniority order. Given your age you would be placed in the 328 and when I was hired it took six months or less to upgrade in that a/c. Now that's not to say that you couldn't bid fo in the Bac jet, in fact we have 20yr plus fo's on that thing but when push came to shove this last year many of them had to upgrade in the CRJ and they just couldn't do that with you. Then again who am I??? Send in a resume and let them tell you that not me, I would love to see you here as long as you have an outstand personality...

WD.

I emailed a resume in without a LOR. I know two pilots with AWAC, however not well enough to ask them to walk in my resume.

It appears from the above posts that I probably shouldn't expect an interview invitation.

I am current 121, 2500TT, ATP, 500 turbine (Saab)

Thanks,

I wouldn't say that at all. GET OUT TO THE AIRPORT AND MEET SOME OF THE PILOT GROUP. This industry is way too small for you not to know someone or atleast someone that knows someone. Your type time is just what they are looking for. Prior 121 DON'T GIVE UP ON THIS MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WD.

Hey Wiskey Driver Hi!
I have that outstanding personality you mentioned,
plus a friend that works for AirWiskey, and an ATP.
Besides the 2500tt what is the minimum for multi time?
Thanks !!

Bare bones mins on multi is 500 with the competitive numbers more around 1200me with 121 under your belt. BUT EVERYONE HEAR ME ON THIS ISSUE. LET PILOT RECRUITING TELL YOU YEA OR NEA NOT ME OR ANY OTHER LINE PILOT. If you think that you have what a company would like to see, send a resume. Do this thru out your career job search and eventually you will be heard. I can't stress this enough...

WD.

He's right.

I start class in one week and I was hired with 2900 TT with just over 1000 multi about 800 of it turbine. I fly part 91 with no 121 or 135 experience but I did have several friends with the company one who helped me out a great deal.

I'm sure most of these guys would be willing to help you out if you can make the effort to meet them. Heck just fly to ATW and hang out in airport. I don't know. It's worth it I think.

The main thing is getting the interview.

Congrats and welcome. We fly virtually coast to coast so people, get on our web site and take a look at the map find out if we come to your city and talk to the pilots we are glad to speak with you. This can be done for the price of some gas and parking. I think that's a pretty inexpensive way to help secure your career furture; But what do I know, I am just a lowly line pilot who has done this before and have gotton 2 121 jobs out of the deal...

WD.

I know we have a few pilots from the SFO/SAC area that are old Westair pilots. If they get on this board they will most likely entertain a few barley based beverages to hear your story. Problem is we have been warned about getting "egg on our face", so to speak, about recommending people and not knowing how they work in an aircraft. A good way to find out about possible contacts is an alumni directory from a school you attended. Especially if it was an aviation school. I was looking the other day and found out I know about five guys alone who work at SkyWest. I don't need that contact but if I did it would be great to know. Some I have flown with but have not seen for five years.

Hey TrickDaddy WhiskeyDriver --

If you promise to be my friend I'll promise to send you a resume !!
:D

It's going to need to be a little bit more than that. Face to face is the ticket. Over the internet, one can't really get a feel for the type of person you are and that's not to say that you are not a dynamic individual but one can not know over the internet. I suggest that you get to the airport and meet those that are flying NOW I will be atleast another 2to3 weeks before I get back to work and If you want to come and meet me after that time I would be more than happy to meet and speak with you.

WD,
I am currently working to get an interview with Air Wisconsin, Do you know how long the wait would be to get a ground school date after a successful interview? Being on furlough, the funds are running out fast.
Also are most new hires going to the 328 or the CRJ?
Thanks for the previous info.

AWAC

The info that I have is 2 classes per month usually 2 to 3 weeks to hear back as for the a/c I think it's the RJ but I could be wrong on that however no matter which a/c it's still a great job with an outstanding carrier.

Just got the call from Kristi today with a verbal offer and class date of Sept 23! Can't wait! I'm making the jump from Mesaba after 2 years. I was in the pool last year before 9/11 and got called to re-interview in late July. Interviewed again on Aug 29 with 2400 TT, 1500 ME, and 1200 turbine 121 time SIC. Sounds like things will really be moving fast and hoping for the best.

Hey congrats and welcome to the best national airline in the country. In case you don't know where a suite and tie on you first day of class because they will be taking you ID pictures. The company also springs for lunch on that day as everyone in the corp offices comes down to meet and greet you from ramper to president. Enjoy and once again welcome.

There are several ways in which to approach this issue. The method that I always used was to update everytime there was a significant change in my current status, ie 100hrs or more flight, the addition of a rating or the passing of ONE MONTH. Do what ever you have to do to make youself standout in the crowd.

A recent company newsletter gave aircraft deliveries and class dates. It is planned to have the 38 RJ's (26 now) on line by Feb '03. As for classes, they are showing at least 1 initial groundschool class for both the RJ and 328 every month. It is therefore fair to say that each class will be a mix of RJ and 328 with possibly the odd 146 thrown in for good measure. The only advantage of the 328 is that upgrades could be under a year although you will be DEN based. RJ's are ORD & DEN, 146 is ATW & DEN.

I have heard that you can't bid captain on another aircraft you are currently flying at Air Wisconsin. For example, a 328 FO can't bid an RJ capt vacany and a RJ FO can't bid 328 capt. Anyone know any info about this??

This is a misconception, we have a letter of agreement in our contract that covers the declining fleet. The 328 is on it's way out so what they are doing is not allowing a rj fo who may be senior to take a 328 capt slot thus a junior 328 fo can take the slot not vice versa. That shoud about as clear as mud...

Those a/c are on a long term lease so there is really no telling however I do know that the company would get rid of all of them at once if they could or work out a deal with another manufactuer to get Jets for taking these off their hands.

thanks for the info whiskey driver. I have send my resume there and know one pilot that was in my new hire class at eagle and quit right after IOE. Problem is trying to get in touch with him. If you or anybody else knows how to get in touch with Shane Ouellette, please drop me a PM. Thanks

Sonic....great news to hear an XJ guy getting out. Its been hell here lately. Now, could you do me a favor and take the voluntary furlough? It would save one FO from getting furloughed for a month. I know him, he's a great guy and he has a wife and kid to support. BTW, its not me, its a class mate.

ksu,
a classmate of mine starts groundschool at skywest this month and put in his notice with the chief pilot in msp, and supposedly he was the 5th f/o just on the msp side to give notice this week. i'll be going in to do the same in a few days and i'll try to find out the scoop, meaning if enough people leave will they still have to furlough. from talking with some other f/o's there are quite a number who are actively seeking other means of employment, which would definately help the cause around mesaba for the guys who want to stick it out.

We will see the 10 remaining 328's on the property until at least '04. As WD said these ones have longer leases on them. This is also because UAL plan to have all the prop's out of the express system hopefully around the end of '04. They are out of ORD and by all acounts DEN and IAD are slated next starting late next year. It all boils down to getting jet equipment deliveries to replace the props.
