Underlyingly, it has also been amusing to see the older guys, using their experience and wisdom, so easily and completely spin the younger guys up simply by playing on the perceived self-worth and impatience inherent in the young.

There is a certain irony in that the young guys don't think they need to learn from the old guys, yet what the old guys know has enabled them to allow the young guys to assist in making their point.

Personally, I don't want someone so volatile and impulsive in command of the plane upon which I am a passenger.

it has been fun, I doubt 70 is on anyone's scope, but it is such a hot button to get all excited about.

Name any other INDUSTRY that disregards HARD work and TIME OF SERVICE for career advancement. Time for you to dismantle your sense of self worth and justification of your "paid dues". You are only another example of LUCK. This industry and it's successes are about nothing other TIMING and luck. You did nothing special or anything that more qualifies you than those beneath you who have demonstrated their competence and stamina for the position. In fact I can almost assure you many in this generation have far exceeded your dedication and persistance to the reward of career aspirations. Your canned cliches of "paying dues" or "earning your place" are inadmissible in an industry that disregards work ethic and character. Loose the self inflated attitude and realize there are people in this industry who will NEVER see their ambitions rewarded and NOT because of incompetence but a discriminatory biased seniority system managed by a group of self interested hoarders.

Every pilot who is enjoying an extra 5 years in the cockpit to age 65 also enjoyed the seniority advancement provided by mandatory age 60 retirements above them.

But somehow, young pilots wanting the same benefit of retirements old pilots enjoyed during the course of their career is selfish...
