Waiting for the Republic pilots to tell me they still only want an "industry average" contract again... 37 dollars an hour for a 100 seat airplane.... absolutely astonishing. Somewhere right now a republic pilot is sitting in a jumpseat telling the pilots that "i didn't want these jets" as they are shaking because they are soooo happy to fly a real mainline airplane. Sign an industry leading contract and prove me wrong... but we all know what you "new improved" contract will have in it... 38 dollar fo's and sub 100 dollar captains. Again, I ask you to prove me wrong.

What ever!!! Do you honestly think we had a choice? Lets see.. Hmmm... should I quite my job becuase some tool at a "legacy"... think our MGT is scum bags. The pilots here are not scum bags. A majority of us don't want these on property. Your arguments are fruitless!
Keep on complaining.... You sound so professional! I bet the media would love to know how unified pilots are.
No you piece of ********************, if you guys would demand pay rates commensurate with the number of seats you fly, like it's always been then there would be no incentive for Midwest management to demand the wage cuts from the Midwest pilots.

Talk about not being unified, because you are willing to sell yourselves out for the "quick upgrade" to get to the majors before the regionals that actually stand up for good contracts. I hope all of you gelled hair dorks taking pictures of yourselves in the engines stay F/O's at 37 bucks an hour forever.

Just remember, the only reason a regional airline increases in size is not because it provides good service, or is safe, or it's operation is better than the others. It's only because they are the CHEAPEST, and it's all on the backs of the pilots. Good job killing another couple hundred mainline jobs.

Cheapest? How do you figue...Skwy flys the 900 for almost $10/hr less and Mesa at 9/hr less. Its not about being cheapest or one of those regionals would be doing the flying.
Also, how is 2 aircraft going to bring down our upgrade times? Why don't you just be happy that you still have a job.

Why are you talking about -900's?

2 aircraft wont do anything except set a bad bad precedent. Few people work at Republic for the pay. It's all about the "quick upgrade" that existed a couple years ago and selling yourselves out.

Why don't you just be happy that you still have a job.

Is that a threat to come undercut Piedmont's Dash 8 flying?

Lets see, on a per seat basis I make about 1 dollar/hr/seat on avg. Using the Republic ratio of 37$/hr/100 seats...looks like your F/O guys will fly a Dash for about 12-13 bucks an hour.

No thanks, I'd rather not have a job. On the plus side, there will probably be a quick upgrade.

With these aircraft and these pay rates, how is Jetblue and Usairways supposed to negotiate their E190 rates come contract time? Sure, you want that quick upgrade, for what? At this rate, you'll move from CHQ to a "Major" for less pay than you were making at a regional. Absolute BS

I am sure most of the Mesa Pilots are dancing to this. Mesa move to the side, you now aren't officially the bottom feeders anymore.

Maybe the "Mesa Sucks" quote can be buried and replaced.

WSurf you could not be more correct. Republic is the new scum at the bottom of the barrel. Mesa has officially been replaced.

Sniff, Sniff....please feel sorry for me. I fly(flew) a B717 and I deserve to get paid more than an major airline F/O becasue we offer cookies in flight. You dam regional pilots stole my job and I hate you....sniff, sniff
You deserve to spend the rest of your career on the pathetic Republic payscale!

The hypocrisy and envy on this thread is astounding.
Envy of What? Maybe you d0uchebags that went to academys may have looked at the 190 as your 747. But for those of us with a degree, didn't really hope to have a career at a regional flying a 190.

I know this won't go over well with everybody, but how about requiring a College Degree to get a job as well?

Maybe then, we'll have some sense of self worth amongst ourselves, instead of being happy to be the highest paid High School Grads out there.

Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner!

Should be embarrassing to the posters about how childish they are. Oh you did this oh you did that. Grow up! Take care of yourselves don't worry about the guy next to you. Jealousy is making some of you look ridiculous, and evny are making others of you look like fools.
I find it quite ludicris that you all believe you should make two hundred thousand dollars a year... hell the president of the united states barely tops that. But i guess he should have held out for a better contract.
Airlines have an issue thinking they are better than the rest of the workers in this country and believe they should not be subjected to what is happening in real time. Hey all just to wake you up there is a recession going on NO ONE is getting increased pay and lots of people are losing their jobs. US AIRWAYS and UNITED are on the brink of failing and you think they and other airlines can afford to pay you what you want....are you idiots?
Brian Bedford might not be the most liked but that is not his responsibility. His responsibility is to make Republic Airways the most successful profittable airline possible. His responsibility is to share holders and employees. And so far he is doing a better job than most airlines out there.
So I entreat you to continue your crusade for more pay (hell i would like a bigger pay check) but know it is doomed to fail. An Airline goes into bankruptcy when it can no longer meet its obligations so i challenge you to try and increase those obligations at this time... Good Luck
But right now you all are pretty fail

I had steam shooting out of my nostrils and I was about to PM you a recess message.

Then, epiphany!

YOU, the likes of you, those that espouse the dumb and mediocre; YOU are the ones I'll be "competing" against during a job interview?

Awesome!

You, my fool, are "fail."

Ultrarunner has a signature line that hopes for a time when the fit are a protected class.

I'm praying for an online application that asks for your Triple 9 Society number.

Hey dumbass check my profile. I have a degree and am flying the 190 at a regional called JetBlue, and this scares the crap out of me. We have NO scope, no CBA, and but for our "benevolent" management this could be us next. However, the flame-throwing at RAH pilots, especially from those flying around 86-seat and 76-seat tundra jets is laughable at best. Pot, meet kettle. Your target should be the ********************ty management groups that are actively working to destroy what's left of this career.

By the way my 12th grade English Lit teacher would weep at your grammar. That Aeronautical Science degree isn't really helping you present yourself as a true professional right now, is it?

I agree with you whole heartedly. It will be great when we are competeing for the same job. I will understand the state of the economy and will understand the prospects of the job and pay for the position I am pursuing. I won't expect the company to go into the red just so I can tell everyone how much I make the week before i get furloughed, I personaly don't think the best way to pursue a bigger paycheck is to put myself out of work. But that has to be flawed logic since it is so very upsetting.
But continue being fail.
I sincerly hope you get your two hundred grand a year. You sir deserve it.

Ask UAW how well it worked for them by not giving any concessions.

Never claimed to be proficient with vocabulary and spelling, I also make many grammatical errors. I commonly misplace commas and sometimes even forget to capitalize the "I" when I use I statements. But since the best response you have is to go after my literary skills which I freely admit can be improved upon. I will chalk this exchange up as a victory for common sense.
Good Day Sir

All they gotta do is increase prices. But with all these seats flying around, nobody can raise fares. If we wouldnt have jackasses flying 100 seat airplanes for 23 bucks an hour, higher salaries would just be a cost born by the price of the tickets. Less people would buy tickets and capacity would drop slightly. Fewer pilots would be needed, and that would allow the 300 hour Gulfstream graduates to get some more experience.

I would have much rather waited a few years before getting hired if it meant a stronger, more stable Major airline industry. If we didn't have Mesa's and Republic's undercutting all the other pilot groups we would be able to make some headway.

Not to mention 20 year captain rates. Feel really sorry for the FOs and everyone at Midwest.

I hope in light of what is happening at Midwest, future contracts at the majors will focus on ironclad (as much as that is possible) scope. I wouldn't mind flying an RJ (again) provided it is flown by mainline crews.

Shows you how much thought you gave to that post. Who the hell do you think gave up scope? THE MAINLINE guys !

How staggeringly magnanimous of you! Hugs and handshakes all around!

While you're at it, admit that you have a terribly flawed perception of pilot value.

Professional? 23.00hr to fly a 100 seat jet. Flying planes for those rates is whats childish.

First year FO (as in the rate you just published) will not be flying that plane. Maybe the top 3% of the company who are senior enough to hold it will. Check your facts and report back with an educated post.

I don't have a flawed view of pilot value i know a 300 hour gulfstream grad can complete 99 percent of all flights in the modern jets without much issue. And that is proven everyday. As I once heard a Chicago center controller once says "With an operation this size we have to expect some loses."
With this industry failing you in so many ways would it not be childish to stay in it and complain about it everyday? Do you really think scope relief will go away? Do you really think mainline will recapture all the flying and increase the pay? Do you really think in the current economic climate mainline wants to expand their payroll?

Except those few times when it isnt proven, because it fell into that 1 percent category. And dozens of people die. We arent there for the 99 percent of flights that go right, we are there for the 1 percent when things go wrong.

You're a sorry excuse for a professional. You sound like someone who's never had to work hard for anything and thinks unless it's given to you, you don't deserve it.

QED, sugar. I'll explain later. But first:

With this industry failing you in so many ways would it not be childish to stay in it and complain about it everyday?

Nice try. The industry isn't failing ME. The industry is eroding from the bottom- and it shows no signs of slowing. In fact, it shows signs of serious acceleration. It is failing my expected future, because I made a terrible mistake. I thought the pressure from all pilot groups would stem the bleed. Any arse hat that sits in a RAH 175 doing nothing as a pilot (yup, I admit it- I'm a better pilot than them, and any Laker CA is better pilot than I) but claims, "Gee! I'm jess doin diss till massah lemme go, and I gets on to da biiiiig jets!" (minstrel dance here)

Since you are clearly NOT a Trip-Nine guy, I'll trim the fat and make a Reader's Digest level response.

It is a childish failure of imagination to explain immunity to this crap while sitting in a device that purely enables the erosion to occur more quickly. Was that too lofty a response?

Here- ya can't expect the stink to leave if you keep stomping cow pies. That better?

The problem is very clear to me. I know what I generate in revenue (thanks to my colleague's BRILLIANT question to my CEO). I know where I sit, as far as how much I make the airline.

Now put me up front in a FedEX MD11. (Gimme three minutes, I'll be in the vinegar strokes the whole while.) I'd be contributing a crazy amount of business to the bottom line. Why? Capacity much?

So, using your naptime and cookies blanket- the one that says, "WE AREN'T WORTH 200k, GET OVER IT"- you FAIL.

(You aren't "fail," as you'd say- you FAIL. Look it up, childish LOLCAT parlance aside.)

Do you really think scope relief will go away?

Do you think at ALL? Re-read that.

Do you really think in the current economic climate mainline wants to expand their payroll?

En Mort Main

Sit down, breathe deeply, ponder what a vinegar stroke might be, and come back in an hour.

....

You're back.

NO. You destroyed the market. You enabled the erosion of the market. Which market? The isostatic market of pattern-bargained contracts.

As a reward, I left a Pez dispenser in the left lane of the busiest highway by your parents' house. Go find it. It is the one with an arse on it.
