How about passing along some of those exciting rumors right now? Some of use live for these rumors - no matter how absurd they might seem.

CSY--Do you have a lot of people ahead of you for recall? They are running through them pretty quickly.

About 710 or 712 on the recall list.
Yeah, I bunch of guys have defered, BUT, they are the ones who took voluntarily furlough and probably have no interest in coming back for awhile. One of those seniority numbers goes down to 5000....

Once the letters are sent to that bunch and the predicted deferal letters received, the real recalls can begin. Probably going to be quite a different %. 1/3 coming back perhaps, but that is speculation on my part.
It could also change depending on the outcome of the contract negotiations.
APA is asking for Fed-Ex plus one :D. If that happens, some dudes and duddettes may quit JetBLue and others to harvest the goldmine in TX.

I am going back even if they hand me the MD80 in LGA.
Tired of fighting pilot-hating "managers" at the non-union sweat shop I work for these days. :(
Pay is the same.

I hope you get recalled soon. Good luck to ya!

Sounds like you would prefer MIA/737. If so trade with any ex-TWA in your class because if they are LGA S80 they can move laterally to SLT without losing their reinstatement rights. If they are MIA 737 and they bid SLT S80 they lose their reinstatement rights. Just a thought.

AAflyer--I think that would be a great idea. Getting the straight scoop is tough. Everyone seems to have a little different version of the story. I guess you can call APA and go with what their info.

CSY--I understand completely. I believe there will be a high bypass rate early on (we're already through the FIS's) with them trickling back over the next few years as they get a better picture of what's going on or just get some warm bodies behind them. Good luck--hope it gets to you soon.TC

P.S.--I think FEX + is a little unrealistic (I think that came out in a PDP propa...er, I mean press release ;) ). Getting back to 4/03 pay would be a good place to start.

Running...

AA717Driver,

Really, "Running a trail somewhere"! Who's to believe that, certainly not me!

Yeah, I would prefer a Boeing in MIA.
Good ideas on swapping with ex-TWA guys if I get the MD.
Not sure if AA would allow it? (Them people seem to have a rule for everything, and if they don't, APA have the rest)

Good luck--hope it gets to you soon.TC

Yeah, thanks I hope so too. Need a few years to pad the A and B fund. With only 10 to go, I won't be rolling in it however. Yet, that pension may be enough to keep wifey from spending her golden years as a greeter at Wal-Mart.
(I will be on my boat drinking beer regardless)

As for Fed-Ex + $1.00. Yeah, them days are over:
Scumbag Carty came waltzing in and offered us Delta plus $1.00 if we would just sign the contract and get it over with. APA wanted better work rules so they turned it down..

It's always refreshing to start the morning when I see that other pilots are starting to "get it."

The days of big pilot pay are long gone.

What is important here is to maximize the executive team bonus at AA, or risk losing valuable talent at the top. Look at last year. You executive team pocketed a paltry $100 Million dollar bonus. The next one looks like it is only going to be close to $200 Million. Still an embarassing amount to pay for such fine talent. We need to get this to more realistic levels, like the bonuses paid to the execs at ExxonMobil.

Like I said however, it is guys like AA717driver and CSY Mon that give me hope for this industry. They realize that keeping pay to "realistic" levels a.k.a levels of the JBLU trash pickers, is the only way to go.

So please AA pilots, keep the bar set down near the floor like these two fine pilots are doing. Management will rake it in, and maybe every once in a while, we'll throw you a couple of table scraps with some grizzle on them. That's my way of saying "Merry Christmas!"

Who said anybody is setting the bar down near the floor?
The days of being handed the big pay check on a silver plater is over, nowadays ya have to negotiate hard to get it.
I am sure enough of the APA negotiaters are plenty pizzed off about them bonuses and are not rolling over for anyhing less than equal to or better than insdustry leaders such as Fed-Ex, UPS and SWA. (For 737 rates).

So Frank, take your conclusion and stuff it up yer tailpipe where it belongs.

I agree Frank, pilots are way over paid.. I mean where do we get off thinking that all the training, time, dedication and risk we take in our careers is worth any more than a use car salesman, or civil engineer, or something?

(tongue firmly planted in cheek)

Guys, don't even give this coward the time of day. Responding to his flamebait only gives him another reason to go rub one out.....add him to your ignore list and life will be much better.

Hey Frank, I said '03 AA pay. Not exactly JBlu wages.

BTW, are you still flying around in that GII you chartered out of Mexico? You know those are now certified for night visual approaches into ASE. Don't let your pilots tell you otherwise. They're all a bunch of lying slime anyway. Enjoy the skiing this year! :D

XTW--I'm a changed man. Turned over a new leaf. Quit drinking. Well, kind of... ;) TC

Youse guys want rumors, here you go. Especially directed at WyoHerkDriver, with whom I've shared many PMs regarding rumors!

They just recalled 30 check airmen (fact.) Very interesting, since the 10 recalls per month were because that's all they could do with the current number of check airmen. Now that they've recalled 30 more, methinks it's because they're gearing up for a lot more than 10/month later in the year. Look for at least 200 recalls next year. Bypass rate will drop dramatically now that we are into the "involuntary" furloughs -especially with the Eagle flow backs, who pretty much have to come back or quit Eagle.

First recall class is Jan 3, next one is Jan 30. Assignments will be MIA/FO/737/D and LGA/FO/S80/D. Eventually, when our 9 displaced STL pilots get reinstated, STL will also go to recalled pilots. I think BOS/FO/S80/D and ORD/FO/S80/D will also be possible, eventually (still pretty junior.)

You are highly encouraged to bid LGA/S80. Don't ask why. :pimp:

Let's get a kick a-$-$ contract now!

maybe by the time they get to my number (2200ish) they'll be recalling into the right seat of the 757 slt. Well, that's the dream i'm holdin' on to.......

Don't harsh my mellow!

Could very well be. One thing I know about AA, when they start growing/expanding, it will go like gangbusters.

aa73,

They are also hiring more checkairman. Just flew with 2 TWA guys, one is hired, and one is waiting to hear.

AAflyer

Ok, I'll bid LGA, but i think I know why....However it will be LGA/300/FO/I

Sweet! Somethin' big is in the works...

Nah, don't bid the 300. Why would you want to fly an airplane that has all that automation? And give up the least busiest seat at the airline?

hasta luego, tio.

Does every piece of equipment at AA have a Domestic and International sub-base?

Erfly,

No, the S80 is only domestic. However we do fly into Canada, and Mexico with it, however it is considered domestic and pays domestic.

Almost every other plane and base has Domestic and Int'l. Int'l overide is $6.00 an hour for captain and a %for FOs based on your seniority year. I have been here around 8 years and the overide would be about $4.00 an hour added to my aircraft hourly pay.

When you look at our bases and aircraft they show up as /I and /D after the base, A/C and seat. ie.

MIA/737/FO/D
MIA/767/CA/I

Hope this helps,

AAflyer

I should add that for except for som very small domestic 777 flying, most bases for the 777 are Int'l only. There is only Int'l for 300 in LGA. (I know we only fly it out of JFK, however your bid status will show LGA/300/FO/I)

So is it like Delta/UPS, etc that when you're in an I sub-base, you only fly International, or can you fly both?
