Um, just from an outsiders standpoint..... if you Union "A" guys think you and the union are in control, maybe the perception needs review. I know that Mr. Buffet and Mr.Santulli have more personal wealth indavidually than your union has funds to wage war with. Now lets consider how much capital the companies have.... You may win the war and loose the battle. Eastern did as many other companies who won the immediate and lost the long term position. Just something to consider. Sorry I couldn't add to the fight and call somebody a name or accuse them of sleeping with their cousin......

Hey Fly Low.........I dont live outside my means. so I can afford this stuff by saving money and BTW...The first officers over here didnt get a raise...."Your" union sucks and didnt do anything for the F/O's and personally I didnt care. Why didnt you bring up anything about what your union did for us about commuting? No ammo for that one.
Next time you spout off at the mouth you might want to know the facts!!!!

Happy EASTER.

I'm happy you don't live outside of your means. You've watched Suzie Orman! Good on you! You get a Gold Star!!

FACTS! Let's talk about FACTS!! I have over 250+ pages of FACT that we Union guys refer to as a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

F/Os not getting a raise? Not true. That's on page 183 for most of our F/Os. FACT: F/O's no make more than I used to make as a NJA Captain prior to CBA 2005.

The commuting situation? There is none. Newhires are voting with their feet. 1/3 of newhires on property since ratification have voted with their feet and said SEEYA. Good choice considering the alternative. The company either had no answers or provided the wrong ones for many of these pilots. It's wrong to provide a does of reality to a newhire for the 1st time when meeting with the Union for the 1st time during Indoc in CMH.

Bottom line: NJA can add bases right now on their own with no bargaining if they desired. That fact is located on page 73 of the CBA. NJA just doesn't desire to open more because they value their percieved carrot for Bargaining Cycle 2010.

Enjoy the Gold Star.

The Unions have done wonders at the airlines.

Was it Unions or the marketplace economics changing post deregulation that had the greatest hand in shaping what we call airlines today?

The federal government comes through agin.

we fight like the Irish. Its mostly just yelling and punching to the gut...... But let an outsider (Flex, CS, FLOPS) try to throw a punch; and holy she-ite. We band together like white boys in prison.

But its good entertainment... dont ya think Old F*rt and Diesel?

Kind of like watching a bumfight. In the end they are both still going to steal a cart from someone else later.

I don't know where I was going with that. I guess I was trying to show the duality of man SIR.

PS I heard the NJI lounge at TEB has a LCD while the NJA has a Plasma.

Discuss amongst yourselves. :)

PS I'm more of a Latin Kings type brawler. :)

It is not about control. It is about abiding to the contract the company agreed to. It is about providing better wages, better QOL, and a more safe operation to our members.

Hot Damn I got all their heart rates up didnt I????? Its like shooting a tranqillizer at a momma polar bear and watching the cubs fight to save her life....but it all ends up that the DNR still gets to put the tracking device on the momma and check in on her everynow and then. Sounds familiar.

FLYLOW your are not reading my message when I write it.......Remember back when you said "Your Welcome for the Raise" I said...."YOUR union did nothing for "OUR F/O's" We got nothing....no raise...nothing!! All we got was 7/7 and 1/2 of us were already on that.

So I dont give a $h*t about your page 183 of nothing...that thing wouldnt make good toilet paper on this side of the house. We cant get it through the LAV's in the G bird. Keeps getting stuck on page whatever about the single carrier suit just like you get stuck on it.

Your 250+ page CBA book is probably kept in a safe like Ft Knox because its all you have control of. Its just like Mountain Troll said you dont have any more control than we do. All you can do is break an aircraft, strike etc. Do you understand that if you put the company out of business we dont go down with you.because we are not part of you....We just have to work harder. CSX is in your brotherhood and they have a no strike clause. Whats up with that?...how does the union help them?

BTW I dont have a copy of your CBA. Not interested in it. So quotes from it are like GREEK.

RTRHD.....you got that song stuck in my head again. Damn you!!! But I do think your sexy.......Woudlnt want to cut in on Wolfpack though!! haha

(OK, IM BEING SERIOUS HERE)

It was ALPA, hands down. In 1963-4, Delta thumbed its nose at ALPA and said we're gonna fly the DC9 with 72 seats with two pilots. The union didnt fight them on that plane like they did Frontier and the 737. Over time ALPA realized what the Delta pilots had years before... 2 guys can fly an airplane. Jets were the latest and greatest, and they felt no one would be left standing in props. So they turned their backs on the smaller carriers.

Throughout the late 70's-early 90's ALPA wanted nothing to do with prop pilot bottom feeders. They didnt even want to support them in organizing because they felt another union would be a threat to ALPA. So they left them alone. What they failed to realize was technology was on the roll, and the RJ came in under the radar screen. The rest is history. In 1992, ALPA said RJ's would never work, and they were too small for an airline pilot to fly; yet in 1963 they were just fine!

Had ALPA stood its ground and struck across the board; Mesa, GoJets, Comair, Freedom, etc. would have never evolved.

So when you ask how did the modern airline industry get to where it is today?

1. Total, complete lack of union "FOR"sight and an ego to big for an RJ.

2. Companies doing what companies do best, trying anything to make a buck.

3. Technology making jet aircraft so safe to fly, a 21 year old kid with Doc Martins and 500 hours can do it.

Hey, but what do I know... Im still slinging the gear handle for bananna's and I went to 'cotllage':bawling:
