Here is my opinion. The problem here was the BK, and nobody putting up DIP financing except mainline. That gave them control. What to do now? Not much you can do, things are headed downward. The fatigue rules and hiring rules are next. But, there will be big hiring, eventually. Not at DL this year, but maybe AA and UA. Then things will explode hiring wise, and as RJs go away, more and more will be hired to the legacies and better paying jobs. Consolidation will help keep the big 3 stable, and thousands will be hired. For those who want to stay at their regional, that option will be there, but more consolidation will happen there too, and cost pressures will continue to rain down from the legacies. It will be an important choice for many, since they probably expected to move on years ago before they started families, and the choice to start over may be a tough one. Good luck.
