I have been flying on SKYW for a lot of years, being from the west coast. You guys have a good operation with good people. However, to those of you who say you have no control over where airplanes go, I call BS.
When you decided to fly for one rate, you stuck a knife in the backs of many regional pilots. When you decided to not fight when the one rate was supposed to be done, you twisted that knife.
Unfortunately, management makes the decisions on where airplanes go based largely on what pilots are willing to fly them for. So, while you didn't directly ask to fly Comair or ASA airplanes, you provided the motivation for management to give them to you, i.e. you do have some control over the situation.
Nobody is asking for you to refuse them. We are asking for you to get your chit together and raise your pay on the 70/90. I don't care if you do it with ALPA or without, just do it.
Again, I am not angry. I respect your pilot group. I hope you have the same respect for ours. When I hear you defending yourselves, as if you meant no harm to other groups, that angers me because it is ignorant. Maybe your single rate wasn't intended by you as a slap to our face, but it is being used that way by your management, and you are allowing them to get away with it, even defending it. Please try to take a look at the consequences for other DCI pilots. Furloughs, pay cuts, displacements, downgrades, relocation, starting over somewhere else, lack of bargaining power, etc. Even if you don't care about us, do it for yourselves, because it will eventually come full circle and bite you back.
