I'll answer this over here since the other thread is mostly flaming by SWA/FO. I do not know if WN is trying to hire military guys or the actual numbers. I can tell you as a military guy I know plenty of folks who got turned down. I understand the company tries to put 50/50 in training and...
Inside LORs can be posted online BUT not until you get scheduled for the interview. If you know someone in the company, they can go to the People Dept or call them to check up on your app.
The 1 week guy was not type. The rest varied, some with and some without type. Can't really break the code on who gets the call first. I think some of it boils down to luck being the right application at just the right time.
The next class is 13 June. So far there have been no offers made for June (as of a couple of days ago). I do not know about May but I think they fill classes about a month out.
When they call it is with a "private" or "unknown caller" ID. I know a guy from the last thread who did get a voicemail with a number to call. Good luck!!
I have a bud who interviewed in Dec, Jan DB w/o a type (just got it) and has been told to possibly expect 18 April. I was told by the PD that if you identify yourself as immediately available you could get a short notice class. Some folks have been notified up to the night prior.
I interviewed at Southwest 7 years ago and didn't make it. I decided to stay in the military to retire and have now been hired at Southwest. Over the 7 years I had to wait, I watched many folks leave the military for "dream" jobs at United, American, Delta, and Northwest. Many of those guys...
To everyone with a call -- Congrats. To all without a call -- don't give up!! I interviewed with Southwest 7 years ago and didn't make it (so I know what is like to see others get the call and take delivery of the letter). I interviewed in Dec and made it! A much better deal, but I also...
You can apply to every airline on airline apps for free but the catch is you must create a new account for each one and enter your info again. If you pay the money you can simply publish your existing app to any airline on the service and fill out any airline specific stuff and you are done.
Rec letters can be from anyone. They specifically want someone who has flown with you or who can attest to your flying ability. When I went to the pilot open house they told us a good rec would come from someone who knew you for a long period and could attest to your flying ability.
If you...
I interviewed previously and had no references called. I got the letter. I interviewed in December, had my references called and got a phone call.
My unscientific poll seems to suggest having references called is good. I do work with a guy who had his references called and still got a letter.
I talked to a guy I know in the company. List was with the chief pilots on Thursday. Calls actually started Thursday evening through Friday. Near as anyone can tell Dallas and Orlando have not called and the rest may not have finished. Keep the hope! I got hired on the second try. I have...
Got the call at 1818 from the Phoenix Asst CP. Last name starts with s interviewed 5 Dec. I am on the way out for a few adult beverages. Good luck all.
I don't know!
I'm just telling you what the People Dept said in front of the group at the Pilot Open House earlier this year. Many folks asked the exact question you are asking. The rep from the airline said exactly this "the question does not specify a time period. If you have ever had a...
