Any truth that flying neight cargo accelerates aging?

Atta boy, way to work it. When I was doing it, a schedule like that would have meant living in Ohio....NOT AN OPTION....Im an angry southerner, or endless hours in the crash pad. as214.......Calm Down Man! If you want to go the freight route you should do fine. As someone else mentioned...

Any truth that flying neight cargo accelerates aging?

Yes, its true....IMO. Days off are good, pay is good, and yes with a 7/7 schedule vacation is good. But after 6 1/2 years I had enough and went corporate. I wasnt a good day sleeper and after an all nighter, working that is, and only about 3-4 hours sleep during the day, it took 2 days to...

    Who feeds DHL?

Dont forget Astar, ABX, and NW Cargo. They too feed the DHL system in ILN.

    ABX buying Astar!

Who knows. Dasburg only paid 57 Mil for Astar. If he can make a quick 100 Mil, why not!

AirCell's ground based system is going away by the end of the year and they are going to a Satalite system. We just bought our cell system 2 years ago and now have to spend another 15K to switch it over to Sat. I dont know about the other company.

    What is "corporate aviation"???

You're all right, thanks for the additions and clarifications. Myself I have always grouped charter, pilot for hire, private jet pilot, fractional, whaterever, as corporate. I guess I was assuming that even a new student understood what a crop duster was. After 16 years with the airlines I am...

DHL pulls the plug on Astar's.....

I know, Im just messing with you.

DHL pulls the plug on Astar's.....

Alright, now you're just trying start some trouble! If this were true DHL would just love it. Exactly what they would want to see happen, ABX and Astar in a bidding war over routes. Exactly why the Teamsters and ALPA need to work together and come up with a plan to prevent a race to the bottom.

DHL pulls the plug on Astar's.....

If they come through these are the pics of the building. Dont where it is in relation to everything else. https://crewroom.alpa.org/dhl017/DesktopModules/imageview.aspx?id=3346 https://crewroom.alpa.org/dhl017/DesktopModules/imageview.aspx?id=3345

DHL pulls the plug on Astar's.....

Yep, that was a big grevence we lost a while back but I think it also falls into the alowable number of contractors. They have been a little over staffed in the A300. So what guys do if they live around CVG is bid Reserve Last Out which puts them at the bottom of the list. A few have gotten...

DHL pulls the plug on Astar's.....

Didn't DHL buy Airborne Express nearly 2 years ago? And if Airborne Express still exist and your contract is being violated, then you should file a grevience. You are probably referring to all the turboprop contractors. These are allowed per the contract. There is a limit on contractors...

DHL pulls the plug on Astar's.....

Technically....Yes it does. Could Astar do it....No. But DHL should have acknowledged what they agreed to and sat down with the Astar MEC and woked out a solution. What would that have been? Who knows, but some type of merger, although painful at first would have been best for all in the long...

DHL pulls the plug on Astar's.....

Actually, Astar does/should own it. DHL signed an agreement stating that ALL DHL CORE PROUCT will be flown by PILOTS on the ASTAR PILOTS SENORITY LIST.

Sporties, crewgear.com, Jeppensen. Also look in any aviation magazine and there should be a number of pilot supply companies. LS

    Married and Commuting

I am quitting my airline job and going corporate because of commuting and the fact I am not willing to live in Ohio for a few bucks. I have had a 2 legger for over 6 years and can't take anymore. Like someone else mentioned, if your wife knows what she is getting into, give it a try but unless...
