Rottweiler,
I've never busted any of my checkrides or PCs or initial classes.
Just thought you should know there are at least a couple of competent pilots at UAL...
Bako Cap,
I guess I should look at my pay check too - wait, I don't have one!!
Yes I love flying, and I worked for a major airline at 3rd year pre 9/11 wages. Now, I don't have that option, but I do have a few. Those options are Skywest or Mesa. Skywest is where I would like to be. I will...
Sometimes it's not all about the money.
The fact is, I am doing pretty well at a business I started since I've been furloughed, but you know what - I miss flying!!
Flying is one of those things done for love, not money.
Actually, medical for the furloughed guys are covered by Cobra and the...
Well then maybe I have a chance since I was furloughed in 2003 :) .
I thought of that issue as well and realized that it will all depend on the future furlough numbers at UAL as well.
Thanks for the thoughts!
Randy
FSB99,
I honestly don't know. You can do the math probably. Here are some numbers to crunch:
I was hired in March of 2000 and furloughed January 2003. There were 1060 or so furloughed at that point.
Now, as of the end of October 2003, we will have a little over 1960 furloughed. The senior...
After reading the agreement, and seeing how it works on the UAL MEC site, I can shed a bit of light here.
They way it is set up, a furloughee has to fill out a form that specifies which carrier they would like to participate in the agreement with, or not at all. If a form is not filled out...
Also, what is the future upgrade time (if such a thing still exists) at each airline?
I am very much leaning toward Skywest, but if I could upgrade faster at Mesa, that would be a consideration.
Right now, I'd be happy as a FO on the 1900 in East Jabib on a crappy night flying rubber dogsh!t...
Thanks.
I do want to go to Skywest. I had heard that the last round of Skywest guys went only as far back as the July furloughees, so I was just wondering how many more classes it might take before I got a shot at it (somehitng I am extremely grateful for).
Randy
I was wondering if anyone knew how many folks may be ahead of me in line if I were furloughed Jan 15 of this year.
Just trying to figure out how long the line is for future hiring out of the furlough agreement with Skywest and Mesa.
Thanks!
Randy
Do I understand correctly that you cannot bid to CA from FO on different types at Mesa? If you are an FO on the RJ, you can't bid to CA on the 1900?
Thanks,
Randy
Coming from a Mesa guy - thanks. What is the tough part? Pay, conditions, treatment??
I took a look at the contract and noted a couple of things - the pay obviously, but also the 70 hour guarantee, the "historical" segment pay, and junior manning.
Where are most of the new hires going right...
I want to first say that I appreciate the position of Skywest and Mesa pilots. I know what it must feel like having a group of pilots forced on you from the "Dark Side" (United). I came from ACA and realize that there is a struggle that comes from balancing the needs of all.
As most of you...
Has anyone written a contract to do flying? I have an opportunity to do some testing, but have never written a contract. What are some pros and cons to charging by the day, by the hour, by the flight hour, etc. Are there specific language necessities? Thanks for the help!
From our VP of Flight Operations: No furloughs for April. Still considering possible furloughs for May with no numbers available. This is great news - they were going to announce the next round for April and manpower planning changed at the last second. Hopefully things will change enough to...
Regionals that don't want your number
Does anyone know of a list of the regionals that are not requiring a furloughee to give up his/her seniority at a major. Thanks!
