Not to get too much into politics but wasn't it Clinton who ordered the AMR pilots back to work in 97 but Bush who did nothing to stop the nearly 3 month Comair strike in 2001.
The myths of ditching
Read this article. It discusses the many myths of ditching that are floating around (no pun intended.)

If you were flying here where would you set it down if you lost the engine. I would say my number 1 choice would be just at the edge of the waves that come onshore as this looks like it would still give 50 tp 100 ft of clearance from the...
Does ATC work similarily to the USA? How cooperative are the controllers when asking for CB deviations or an altitude change in ice? Do they speak english that you can actually understand?
At first glance I'm sure that seems like a silly and dopey question. However, my brother and I were arguing about this yesterday. He states that you must have a high IQ and be smart to be a pilot. I couldn't stop laughing! I told him a plane can be flown by an individual with avg...
By the way how bad would the turb likely be if flying throught Katrina's eyewall like the hurricane hunters do? Mod, Sev, Ext? I'm wondering if it is like a jetcore where the winds are 150kts but smooth as glass or if there are large gusts to cause bad turb?
Been gone a few days and just now stumbled upon this. What I'd do in the above scenario is establish min sink speed which is I'm sure significantly slower than best glide and then after you've tried to relight I'd ask ATC to vector me to known suitable terrian (maybe a river, lake, stream or...
You will have to slew it up to altitude. Hit the Y key and then F4 and you will ascend very rapidly. To stop hit 5 in the numberpad on the right side of key board. To undue slew hit Y again and you are all set.
When reading NTSB accident reports what criteria is used to determine if an injury is minor or serious? Is there a specific cutoff like being taken to a hospital or what?
Oh just thought of another one that will certainly top all the previous ideas!! Take a 172 right through a level 5 supercell squall line!! After all there is no FAR against flying a plane straight through a boomer but it would be illegal to fly that same 172 into even light ice!
Flying 6 approaches under the hood w/safety pilot with holds and course intercepts and then 5 months and 29 days later taking off in 0/0 with LLWS and then at a nearby airport with slightly better WX and flying an ILS to ldg with 200ft and 1/2!
I'd like to visit as well. Sorry about the misconception about how the NY airspace works from an ATC perspective. I admire you guys tremendously. Send me a PM as well to set up a visit if that is possible. That would be very exciting.
Problem has been resolved. Called the FBO and they told me that two pilots before me have booked the plane and it will be down about 2 hrs from full fuel. I will therefore be 75 lbs UNDER gross at takeoff and not only legal but safe. Since I didn't violate an regs by simply discussing the...
