I flew all four seats. It took me 3 years to upgrade on the E-120, a year seat lock and then just over a year as CRJ captain. After 5 1/2 years at SkyWest I am now fortunate to be at CAL.
munson, you're right. Upon closer inspection that is a different photo than a CAL 757 but the part about the 757-200/300 and 767-200 having altitude tape on the right hand side is incorrect. Here is one I found with CALs type of display...
The 767-400 cockpit at CAL is just like at Delta. At CaL you train on both 757-200 and 767-400 sims and have differences throughout the whole training process. Once online you are exposed to the 757-300 and 767-200 which are very similar to the 757-200 cockpit except for a few differences. They...
I jumpseated this evening on United Express/Republic and was offered first class. It was great. I had almost forgotten it existed. It's one thing at CAL that I don't like. If you jumpseat at CAL you never can sit in first. For that you have to pay the first class nonrev rate.
I flew both the CRJ-200 and -700 at SkyWest. You figure out the differences and it works okay. It helps if you can bid to fly them often enough that you don't get too rusty on the one you're not flying as much. The pay being the same for the -200 and -700 there sucks but that's a different...
Like ReportCanoa said, in some areas of the world the MORA is in the flight levels so it's important to know at what altitude it's safe to fly if you go off route. Many of these areas don't have radar coverage so you are on your own for terrain clearance. If you are on an airway and need to...
My wife and two young kids and I are all living with my inlaws. It's not fun. I just hit my six month mark and got health insurance. Myself, wife, and daughter were on the $1000 deductible short term insurance for around $305/month and my son was on Cobra for $232/month because of a...
I didn't know the 757/767 were able to be controlled through remote control. I didn't learn that for my type ride. That's sweet because that means I can stay home and I don't have to fly my trip tomorrow. I can fly it by remote control.
I haven't been a member since a few years after I started flying for the regionals. Again I don't have the money to fly on my days off. (I've got 4 mouths to feed). After while I began to realize that though I used AOPA when I first started flying, once I got my CFI all of the articles didn't...
On my last trip a couple of the flight attendants commented that I was too young to fly. One said, "How old are you? You don't look a day over 22." I said, "Actually I'm only 19". Then another asked the same question. I said, "well today is Bring-Your-Son-To-Work Day." They all liked that.
I'm a new pilot at CAL and I'm using the Plantronics MS50 T30/2. It's been a adjustment going from my Dave Clarks with a hot mike to having just one ear for ATC and the other for cockpit communication. I've found it often difficult to hear ATC unless I turn up the volume so loud it's almost...
No one has been awarded 756 for IAH since before the last bid that closed in January. All 756 awards have been for EWR. Perhaps on the next bid in August.
What is the procedure for listing on Midwest Express Airlines with CASS? Do I need to call ahead and list myself or just show up at the gate? Is there a nonrev listing number? Thanks.
I'm new to commuting and crashpads. Can you give me advice on what makes a good crashpad or a bad one. Should it be close to the airport or in a nicer neighborhood, hotbunk vs having your own. Etc. I'm specifically looking for EWR. I've seen some in Elizabeth and in Hoboken. Any adivce...
Larry you may get the 756 without getting to choose the 737 so CLE wouldn't be an option for at least 2 years until the seatlock is up. You can always commute though.
