Niether Murphy or Linden voted. Murphy was not on the MEC, and Linden would have cast the tie breaking vote if needed. Since it was a 7-1 vote, it was not needed. I believe Linden would have voted yes if it was a 4-4 vote.
There were a total of 510 B717 Captain seat available for bid for the AirTran pilots. It didn't quite go straight seniority for those 510 slots. As mentioned above there were about 180 pilots in the first 510 on our list that bid SWA 737FO. If it had gone in straight seniority the 510th pilot on...
Airtran will retire 150 pilots through 2020. I also imagine there will be a number of Airtran Captains that will elect to take voluntary downgrades to stay in ATL and avoid being weekend reserve for the next 10 years.
I have a pretty good idea what the junior bases are for FOs (OAK, LAS, etc), but what are the junior bases for Captains? I know it varies seasonally, but generally what are the junior bases for Captains?
Gary Kelly was alluding to the fact that AirTran's labor costs were not going to stay at the low level they were. Basically their lower labor costs were unsustainable because of the pending negotiations going on with the pilots and FAs on September 26th.
You can fly over eight hours in a 24 hour period as long as you have required rest somewhere in that 24 hour period. You maybe confusing 24 hour period with duty period (you would be limited to 8 hours of scheduled block in a duty period, but you may go over 8 actual block hours for unscheduled...
In early 2004 Airtran began hiring pilots after a six month hiatus. This hiring binge would last until early 2008 and double the size of the pilot group from 800 to over 1600 pilots.
Attrition? What attrition? We may lose a few guys a month to places like Emirates or other foreign carriers, but definitely not 160 over the next 6 months. That was what was planned for new hire classes through March.
No, because all future AirTran deliveries will go to SWA and not AirTran (except for the 2 717s coming early next year). It appears all future AirTran 737 deliveries will be configured in the SWA configuration (paint and interiors) and be delivered to SWA after the deal is closed early next...
I listened to the conference call and Secret Squirrel is correct. They said they would be interested in any assets that had to be carved out of a merger (in order to get govt approval) by two other airlines.
Gerald Bock in Germantown, 901-754-6733. Just about every Fedex guy who lives in Memphis uses him as well as Pinnacle, Mesaba, and other airline guys who live in Memphis.
20% Growth in a tanking economy... that makes as much sense as a round trip ticket for $29.99 (Oh wait, you guys do that...)
jester,
That post was sarcastic in nature by someone who doesn't like AirTran, not from anyone who works for AirTran.
I agree. I don't understand why people have such a problem knowing the difference between loose and lose. It is just not on this message board, but I see it everywhere on the internet.
