    Gratuity/Tips

O.K. the $64,000 question; would you still tip if the company didn't reimburse you for it? I know I would still pay the customary tips like restaurants but the line guys would be making nothing extra! As far as tipping the handlers in foreign countries, this is a definite must. These people...

    stmp reservation nightmare

As someone who has to regularly fly into the ski resort areas, I am finding it sometimes difficult to get reservations. You have to be sitting on your computer with your finger ready to click the second 2300 Z rolls around. Wait 5 minutes and all the slots are gone. We used to be able to fly in...

    Lear 60 comments

Great plane! But it really bugs me to hear of people flying it to Hawaii. It really is a strech and in the winter you can have a huge wet footprint. If you have the choice get one with the universal FMS's, the Collins suck in comparison. Also the newer models have the wheel spin up kits which...

    Flying to Costa Rica

Did a trip there last year. The controlers were great and San jose gets a fair amount of heavy jet traffic. Don't forget to apply for your overflight permits for nicaraugua and neighboring countries at least 3 days in advance. If you go downtown for fun be very carefull and take a taxi...

    Jumpseat on Pinnacle

Has anybody used Pinnacle (northwest airlink) to jump on? They used to be Express Airlines I think who we had a reciprocal agreement with. Is this agreement still valid or do they require one at all?

    best nightlife cities

St. Maartin: Approach end of the runway at the sunset beach bar watching the 747 land over the beach, corona in hand. (sigh)

    Tipping

I fly corporate and charter and tip line guys in certain places, especially for lav service. What kind of tipping do any of you do? I've discovered if you don't tip the guys in Aspen you can pretty much forget getting any kind of service.

    Aspen flying

I agree, early configuration is definitely key. One gripe I forgot to mention is when the tower launches someone straight at you while you're flying a straight in to 15. Makes you wonder about the legalities when they don't have you in sight and turn right at the last moment.

    Aspen flying

I fly into Aspen every now and then in a Lear 60 and it seems like every time I do it is always an eye-opening experience. From turbulance to shooting crazy approaches or getting dumped in impossibly high, it never seems to go smoothly. In the meantime I am trying to give a good ride to all...

    135 charter pilot schedules

This question is for all pilots operating under part 135 flying charter. What, if any, kind of schedule do you use? How many "hard" days off do you get? Also, how many days a month do you spend out of town on average?

    135 Check Rides

I also want to add that this ride is not exactly like a ride with an FAA examiner. The check airman can suspend the ride at any time to do training and then resume it. It is designed to make sure you are proficient not to see if you know how to do something. I mean how many times do you do...

    AirNet Rplacing Twins with Caravans?

Yes, there have been some changes in the structuring of the freight hauling but what everybody should watch out for is the rapidly expanding passenger charter division. This will be an important part of Airnet's future. With 3 Lear 60's and 3 Lear 35's already, it is exploding.

    Air Atlanta 747???

I watched a 747 land at Newark yesterday and it had Air Atlanta on the side. Anybody know about this company?

I have a trip going to San Jose, Costa Rica soon and would appreciate any advice about the airport or good places to stay and fun things to do. Thanks!

    Airnet pilots?

The latest and greatest from Craig Washka is that we have so many apps that they won't look at you without 135 mins. Also the hiring priority goes like this: First, the 141 schools we have hiring agreements with, then pilots recommended by Airnet pilots and last those who apply blindly. Please...

    is AirNet taking offline jumpseaters?

Seeing the flight you are connecting on leave without you is very rare here at Airnet as we keep a 98.5% on-time arrival rate. I and many other pilots here at Airnet usually go as far out of the way as we can and still make deadlines to get riders where they need to go. Be sure to check out our...

    overwater raft requirements, part 135

OK, a question for the experts on the board concerning inflatable raft requirements. I am familiar with what the FAR's say about raft requirements for 135 flights over water. But my question is this: What about when I start heading into the different foreign airspaces as I head down the island...

    Airnet Jumpseats

We have had an agreement between companies for years but I understand your company is turning down all Airnet pilots because our agreement with United was suspended when they banned all 135 carriers. As of right now you can jump on us but you should call your jumpseat coordinator and see about...
