Delta 8/6 New Hire Class Awards

It would have to be the domestic. Our contract only allows the M88 or 73N to be the new hire seat, UNLESS there were unfilled positions in other aircraft from previous bids. There were no 765 unfilled positions, but there were on the 767 and 7ER.

    Delta (pay/training/per diem ect...)

Then you heard wrong. Who said that, and in what context? Outside of SWA, I can't think of any other pilot group with whom I would rather fly. The DAL pilots did not furlough their fellow pilots--mgmt did. But we did pay for COBRA benefits for five years, took mgmt to court to try to halt the...

A very effective alternative to a strike

The way I see it by your own admission your wildcat sickout ended up costing you a lot more than just the fine the judge levied. It was a very stupid move...but hey I'm sure the radicals felt good about it at the time. The bottom line is this. Wildcat movements are rarely successful. A...

    Airtran minimum bid schedules

I am surprised that CAs can fly as FO at all, outside of line check airmen. At DAL there is no contractual provision for any captain (other than LCA) to fly as a FO.

    Delta Newhire training question

The only reason that newhires got the 767 is because they went unfilled on the last bid. That is the only contractual provision that allows it. Assuming that most positions ARE filled on the bids, then newhires are restricted to the M88 or 73N.

    I'm Going To The 767ER

First of all, to each his own. I thorougly enjoyed domestic flying, and I really enjoy the international flying. But the "you will kill your body" myth is mostly just that. I am far more rested, eat better, and am in better shape AND spend more time with the family flying international than I...

    Jetblue Named Americans’ Favorite Airline

The bashing here is ridiculous. I am a DAL pilot and like it here a lot. We have had (and still have) many problems and issues over the years, but it is still a great place and things seem to be on the upswing. Let's hope that continues. Jet Blue is a great airline with a lot of great...

    SWA "trips" pay?

Does that refer to that specific leg, that day, or the entire trip?

    Cream of the crap!

It depends on the situation. If it is a hotel van with the hotel's name on it, I cannot imagine any DAL (or any other) crew trying to claim the van just for themselves. If they do they are jerks. That said at many stations (JFK and LGA come to mind, but there are many others) we have specific...

    SWA to England?

And there is nothing more amusing than seeing an inbred-looking British family in Orlando in July. They are absolutely burnt to a crisp, look completely shell-shocked (they have never experienced heat and humidity like this before) and tend to have the "white trash" Cockney accent in abundance...

    PBS at CAL

At DAL we are very happy with our PBS. We have had it for a year and a half and I can't think of five pilots I have talked to who would rather go back to the old Line of Time system (and it was a pretty good system, too). So why the big discrepancy compared to others? 1. We went with NavTech's...

    Personal drops @ CAL

At DAL we have similar problems (in some categories, in others not) but at least we have a couple of tools to sometimes alleviate them. For starters, if you put in a trip drop request in open time that is then denied (due to too few reserves) then it still goes in open time with a "Q" next to...

    US Recalls

You got that right. Most internet message board posters (hey...they would include me) no more represent the typical pilot than Anna Nicole Smith represents the typical widow.

cal system bid out w/pilot reduction

At DAL we have the follow on to TWA's old system (the old AirWare product, not AdOpt)--NavTech's CLASSbid. I have worked on various PBS issues at DAL for over a year, and while nothing is perfect, most guys are pretty happy with it. And usually when there are problems, it stems more from company...

Delta now has unlimited jumpseating for all carriers

All right I will say it. In this case, we WERE following Comair's fine example. Better late than never. I know that Jet Blue has also always had this. I dont' know about other airlines.

US Airways raises the offer to 10.2 Billion

You are especially correct with your last statement. Of course this also proves that DP was just cynically lowballing the creditors trying to buy DAL on the cheap. And most cynically, even he has admitted that the entire plan only makes sense if DAL's BK is extended. Now that is one great...

Delta receives approval to exceed pilot flight time limits.

Well I don't fly the 777, but when you are all alone on your break flying to Europe...who knows what goes on? Look, there are two sides to this, and I am not even saying that the right decision is being made here. But you have to look at all sides. Believe it or not, I initially was somewhat...

Delta receives approval to exceed pilot flight time limits.

Let me ask you this. When you spent 18 hours on a plane, did you have a separate crew rest facility with two business class seats, two horizontal bunks, separate reading lights, curtains, a sink, and a dumb waiter? We at DAL have ALL these things. I can assure you that the FOUR pilots (two of...
