Those aren't statistics based on number of pilot deaths per revenue seat mile or something just total deaths. Absolutely much safer now then it was in the early days of aviation. Still one of the deadliest jobs though.
In the early airmail days etc there was probably a 50% plus mortality...
Those were Department of Labor statistics for people who died on the job, by definition I doubt they include GA weekend pilots.
Despite the relative safety of air travel, being a professional pilot has been the deadliest (1920's, 1930's time frame) or one of the deadliest professions since it...
Funny animation.
Puts forth an over simplified view of organized labor and the reasons for it. Also my guess would be that aviation is one of the most heavily organized labor groups (at least the 121 side of things), which would fly in the face of the logic presented in the clip.
Seems like...

ALPA Supports Amerijet Pilots
As many of you know, Amerijet crewmembers have been on strike for six days. This unfortunate turn of events is a result of being locked in a bitter dispute with...
Woohoo! I never like to see someone loose their job, but that company needed to go. Hopefully they are gone for good. Although as Cargopod said, they will probably be back.
RIP Mike G. 8-13-2004
I like how you put that, and sadly true at most companies where hr screens the resumes before a pilot in the hiring process sees it. Like the dc-8 or 747 experience resume that gets passed by for the dc-9 or 757 resume because the number is higher, and higher is better right? Sad but true.
g-force,
thanks for the suggestion, I did actually use him years ago when I lived in Charlotte and he worked out well. For where I live now he is about 1hr 45min from my house, and 45 min past Charlotte. Just trying to find someone closer.
Thanks again,

I just relocated to the Hickory, NC area. Has anyone been to or know anything about Ken Powell in Rutherford College?
Or if not, any suggestions would be helpful. Hickory, Lenoir, Lincolnton, Morganton, etc. I would prefer to not drive to Charlotte, but I will if I can't get any local...
Wow, too bad. I met him in chihuahua a couple of years ago while flying with Gene. Was glad to see a freight dog who had broken off and was making it on his own, sad to see him go.
There is a bus line that runs by the ups ramp to the terminal, it may run by the fedex ramp too. It was $1.00 back in 2000 when I was working the ram there.
I would second wilgrove. I got a single add on there. Fun little place and was really inexpensive, not sure now. It is a flying club so there was some sort of membership fee. -kingaira90
I guess my above post should have read:
What dose some rich family want with a ragged out cargo Falcon? Unless painting it orange and blowing up aircraft with missiles is a new hobby of the uber rich? Ok now I feel better! -kingaira90
Wow! The first time I have heard the 580 prop system called simple! Did you mean operationally or mechanically?
Sad to see AT lost more good people. I made my exit shortly after MG died in the CVG crash on Friday 13th, Aug 2004 a great guy with a young family. I truly hope the Rude family...
Avbug-
Every single time I flew an ambo flight we had skilled and qualified medical personnel on board, was your experience different? How can you compare a sick patient with skilled professionals on board, to a pax flight where a regular passenger takes a turn for the worse and very well may...
