The pilots on here would know more about air to air but I know pilots chit chat on 123.45
Lrjt - lots of rumors of oceanic one day going privatized... it won;t happen unless they can charge user fees, if (when?) it does go I see Lockheed getting it. They designed the current system, provide...
User Fees, FAA Funding
AvWeb (2/27/06): Pelton Says FAA Fees Would Be Bad For Business
From a strictly business-savvy viewpoint, user fees for aviation don't make sense, says Cessna CEO Jack Pelton. Talking to the Washington (D.C.) Aero Club last week, Pelton said arguments to impose...
I just heard about this yesterday... as much as the union (Natca) is against this there is little we can do. If we are ordered to do it then we have little choice. This is only the beginning ... a snapshot of what we are looking at with the current administration...
User Fees, cripple GA and...
I want to add something... at ARTCC's there is a computer that manages separation... nicknamed the "snitch". On a typical shift there are dozens of "hits", the majority being false (visual, A/C in approach airpace but being tracked by HOST in the ARTCC, etc). When an A/C loses separation an...
Hey... I agree with what was said. File the NASA form (registered mail) and get a lawyer.
I assume this was an FAA tower... understand we (controllers) are under a lot of pressure right now in our fight for a fair contract with the FAA. There is a lot going on behind the scenes...
We pass stuff all the time ... everything from small companies, airlines, military, etc. I have never minded and have never seen anyone get upset over passing messages.
All info is right on ... I want to add one thing. One more reason for a pref routing off the ground and then reroute in the air has to do with data processing in the NAS. You depart airport A in New England, landing airport B in the South East, for all facilites between A and B to get proper...
"file and fly" will depend on traffic and who is working... the DOD can file in such a way that non RVSM inclusion is strongly advised or something along those lines. I forget exactly how it was worded but when DRVSM went active we were briefed on it. I get the occasional DOD flight that has...
What info are you looking for ? How to file ??? The DOD has people that handle this, they work it out usually about 24 hours in advance. Flight in RVSM airspace is still based on how much traffic a particular ARTCC is working.
Or... are you asking how it is to actually work and coordinate...
UnAnswered - I've had A/C as high as FL470 deviate around weather... that's good size wx. Average wx you'll see A/C FL410 and above top it. I work the hurricane hunter A/C, both NOAA and TEAL (USAF), they pass along sigmet info for ATC, often those storms have tops in the 50K foot range and higher.
Guys... there is a lot happening on the other side of the frequencies every one of you speak on. These firings are just the beginning, the FAA who claims poverty hired an outside union busting specialist to handle all matters to do with Natca and the contract negotiation. They also hired a...
Friday afternoon/evening was very bad here in NY. We were holding for all the NY metros and due to the length of the holds had a few A/C declare minimum fuel including one flight that advised us he only had 20 minutes of fuel remaining. The storms weren't so much over the fields, but many of...
Nah, NE ARTCC's hold just about every day. Last night was brutal, a AAL flight held for 1+15 last night. ZNY holds for PHL often, EWR, and LGA also. JFK is pretty good, unless there is wx you may hold 5 minutes for volume or runway change, most days aren't bad. The room (N90) holds also...
Yes... I understand RNP/Equipment. That is why my question still is... why RNP-10 on a King Air ? RNP-10 is only required in the US on the Trans-Pacific Flex Track System. This is so ATC can use 50NM seperation between A/C in the non-radar oceanic environment. Lets even assume a King Air...
At first look I thought you might be joking... but I do realize that all these types of equipment can be confusing. You will only find RNP-10 on the top of the line tras oceanic aircraft, actually trans pacific a/c. The 744, 772, A343's. etc would be about it. I know little about equipping...
TEB would surley be the closest. KFRG out on Long Island would work but the ride to downtown would kill you, it would be an hour with light traffic. ISP is even further. The airspace around TEB is very complex, it puts you right next to EWR, and TEB is just as busy. My $.02 ... if you are...
falcondriver - after watching just about every carrier deal with weather I'll say that they all handle weather very similar. More then once I have seen 2 or 3 A/C "find a hole" and get through the worst of it to get into the airport. I have also had to deal with the guy that tried the same thing...
Song and Ted are the majors (United & Delta) answer to the low cost carriers (Southwest, JetBlue, etc.) I know little of their operations other then when working the flights they use the company call signs (we see in the remarks section of the flight plan Ted or Song Colors) amd they seem to...
I would have to look up the exact figures for the dimensions of WATRS airspace... it's roughly from 300 miles or so offshore out to 60W and as far south as 23N. We own from 050 all the way up to FL600, some places we own as low 2500' ... all controlled airspace, that has gotten some pilots in...
