Don't worry, you get used to it. At FO for years we lived with wearing gold and teal striped clown ties and off-colored shoulder board stripes. KR said he wanted a distinctive look so the owners could always find their crew when they walked into the FBO. That was never a problem. We still managed to hold our heads up and come to work. Thankfully, we could airline in our polos. Before FO the CW guys had to wear red ties and red shoulder boards, looked like bus drivers. Don't know what's in store for you, but there's a quick history of your new owner's taste in uniforms.

- Oh, and jackets with cuff stripes at a 45 deg bias for the large cabin guys. Almost forgot about those. According to KR, the stripes were slanted so it looked like you were going fast. I $h!t you not.

Now let's see if you'll start turning the beacon on 10 mins before departure. Another KR-ism, so the plane always looks ready to go when the owners show. Line guys'll love you for that. And don't forget to roll on ready!

Do you guys actually do this?

This was brought up to us and it was determined it would decrease safety. A beacon on means an engine is either running or about to be running. It says nothing about the readiness of the crew or aircraft.

A crew being at the aircraft and not watching TV in the crew lounge at departure time shows a readiness to depart.

An owner who is familiar with aviation should be wary of approaching an aircraft with a beacon on.

That was an SOP and management expectation back in the old KR, gold-tie days. Only true believers actually did it, most ignored it. Played hell getting a line guy for start & gpu disconnect with the beacon running all the time. The original requirement was beacon on 30 min prior to departure, believe it or not. Didn't see anyone who actually did that, even at CGF. You could write quite a book on the stupid crap we were asked to do back then. Might make good reading for the FJ guys, just to see what gets resurrected. Of course every company has a list of those, but ours was longer than most. Maybe somebody should start a thread, take a walk down memory lane.

I would just like the new owner to ask the actual owners what they want instead of designing paint, interior and uniforms to fit his tastes.

Btw. The new paint looks good. But it in no way separates us on the ramp from other planes. If anything we're more disguised now.

Don't tell KR that or you will be omitted from the Golden Boy club...

Shanes is right, you might want to come up with a different answer for your SFO board of review. Just because the whole rest of the industry does it one way, that way makes perfect sense and has clear safety implications, doesn't mean it's the right answer at FO/FJ/Onesky. That's a quick way to be labeled as a subversive, non-team player - a sure killer in your quest for the fifth stripe.

Teasing aside, I'm sure you're sincere in your belief about the importance of safety. Most of us who remember the old FO would tell you that belief will be tested. It can be a lonely feeling when the time comes to take that stand. Good luck to you.

Believe me, you liking me is the last thing that crosses my mind. It is actually kind of an insult based on your previous posts.

Hold on, you have always claimed you know me, not you say you might actually like me. Which one is it? You really are a genius.

Seriously.........

I think I would pass on interviewing for SFO, thank you.

Good for you. But back in the day they made it worth enough extra pay that most guys tried for it when they were senior enough. Most of the ones I respected got turned down.

Curious, has that idea been floated on the FJ side yet? It was brought up again on KR's return to FO, but as you can imagine the concept was a non-starter in a union shop.

I said I know you. And I said I don't like you..But that previous post made me laugh so hard I kinda started to like you for a bit..And I am going to agree with you on something. A beacon on absolutely means a engine is running or about to be started. But not in KRs world. That safety argument was brought up a million times and they still put it in our SOP I for one never ever did it. And don't give up on the SFO interview yet. You will want to at least put on your best sunday suite and show up and kiss a few asses. Not going is a insult to the gods above.

It has not been brought up.

But now we have SMS which new ideas have to be run through before they are implemented. That idea wouldn't make it through.

Maybe you feel the best way to move up is to kiss a few asses, I chose to do it through hard work. Maybe you should be the one putting in for the SFO program since it is a FO program.

hahahahahahahaha..oh my God TWA you should do standup.. KR prefers ass kissing..That hard work concept may have worked at FJ but I assure you it will get you no where under KR...Two serious whoppers today from you though..We should get together and have a beer.

The SMS that was put in place under Bombardier, by FJ's former Safety manager who was let go after DAC purchased you, correct?
