I'm sure pilots leaving is a new reality that this mgmt. would not be easily swayed towards accepting.
Maybe when they asked him why, he told him some realities that were hard to swallow.I don't get why their reaction would be to fire him.

Maybe it is time they got off that high horse.......! An un contained ego is a terrible flaw.
After a major uproar from the pilot group, the company backed off and accepted his Feb notice date...dude was a furloughed United bro, 55+ yrs old, accepted the recall from them....good for him...good to see SWA back off the knee jerk reaction to his departure
The truth is actually he said it was a very hard decision. It had to do with his age and relative seniority at both places. He said if he was ten years younger (mid-forties) he would have stayed at SWA.
He explained his situation at length with clarity. Very classy guy on how he handled all this and the company revisited their unfair actions and changed their mind. They were wrong and admitted as much. Many pilots, including myself, were very vocal about how unethical it was to do what SWA did without continuing his pay and benefits to the time he stated he was leaving.
Ya see, this guy got SUPER bored with the day in, day out West Texas flying, and it didn't matter how much he got paid as a Corndog, he wanted Variety again in his life. At 55+ years old, multiple leg days with 25 min turns suck... Even if he is semi-junior at UAL, he might have a shot at Long Haul 777 or 767 that would reward him with nice destinations, fewer legs, long relaxing layovers, and first class meals. Well done. He had a taste of the Corndog life, and bailed out, regardless of the high pay. That says something. And then he was fired after turning in a resignation letter? How will Red-liar and Wave explain that?
Bye Bye---General Lee
Man what a tool.
Once again, hiding behind a mask acting like a coward does not make you a man. Quite the opposite in fact.
The guy said he would have stayed if he was ten years younger. It had to do with relative seniority and the company recognized their mistake and made amends.
Maybe a penis enlarger is what you really need. Not immature acts on something you have no business with.
This is an anonymous website. Didn't you know that? Look, it proves my point, the older you get, the fewer legs you want to fly. If he was 10 years younger, he'd fly at your airline for 10 years, and then make the same decision. Of course he's gonna be gracious to you if he talked to you, but his "firing" probably made him discard any good things he went through with you guys. Unbelievable. I bet he'll be training at TK in DEN with a big smile on his face, looking at the World map, thinking about the possibilities...
