ASA/XJT Pilots- Who's financially prepared to walk?

Furlough protection is leverage and alpa wants to give that up. To me that shows the company wants the ability to transfer aircraft and alpa is on their side. When the six 200s went to Skyw for the usairways ops, five crews should've gone with them, but alpa allowed the company to insert a lessor loophole in the TPA that wasn't in our original CBA.

When I tried to find out how this was allowed, alpa would never respond and the company just played dumb. But it was intentional and the purpose was to take away our leverage.
 
So 2 years ago, all I heard from XJT guys was "20% pay raises or we burn it down"

I hope the turnout reflects that passion. I hear your voter turnout record isn't so stellar, but I hope those that do will do so at a 98% level.

As for the ASA side,I think our turnout will be HIGH. I have heard LITERALLY only 2 well known yes voters out of the hundreds of no votes I'm hearing. In the vocal category it's about 98% HELL NO!!! There is of course the silent category and that's the one I'm worried about most.

If this thing passes because of ASA yes voters, I will be SCHOCKED. I will also never again try and guess/gauge a pilot group. Never.

I was SURE NObama would lose too!
 
Its a lot easier to stand in the crew lounge amongst colleagues and say NO than it is to do the opposite. Many will vote yes in response to the fear of this place shutting down like Comair.
That is a real possibility. They bought a very ailing 50 seater only airline, and that risky move alone sealed our fate as a combined entity.

my opinion is that it will be shut down like Comair no matter what happens, but it will take some time, you still have a few years for planning whether its another airline, another career, starting a new business depending on your financial status.. the original post asked who is financially prepared to walk.. i know within 1 year I will be, so no matter what happens this place in my mind will be around in atleast 1 year. 4 years from now might be a different story. That would give you 4 years of planning for no matter what you do... plan for the worst, hope for the best!!
 
It took 11 years to shut Comair down, with half the planes and more other airlines with endless staffing. Also, DAL owned Comair and shut them down while retaining ownership and releasing the planes. SKYW,Inc has fewer options and has CPA obligations to DAL and United. DAL didn't have to answer to ml partners, they call the shots. They either have to wind it down as CPAs expire or pay the penalties for not meeting the CPA obligations. Also, DAL did not suffer financially as Comair was wound down, SKYW would.

They are two totally different situations. Not saying it can't happen, but it's a much different situation than Comair.
 
Mesa's survival is a great tutorial. Wholly owned regionals like Comair and PSA are a different animal. SKYW Inc. is independent. They are not subject to the whims of major partners as much as wholly owned airlines. They still have to be reasonable and viable, but they have greater latitude.
