There were/are a couple of good folks from the msp FSDO. (One of those folks frequents this forum). For the most part however some of the higher ups were a pain in the neck to the former XJ operation. Unless they are more reasonable this time around I look for the certificate to be headed south (as in the direction) very soon.

Compass is also moving their certificate to the MSP FSDO, from IAD.

This was learned from the FSDO two weeks ago.

I stated it poorly in the title and should have said the MSP FSDO will be in charge of the Pinnacle certificate moving forward. This is not a rumor but a done deal. There are some quality individuals in this group so hopefully it will be a good move.

Interesting in light of the fact that the Mesaba certificate was dumped and the Colgan certificate kept just to avoid the MSP FSDO. Originally the "plan" was to keep the Mesaba certificate for props and dump Colgan. Eventually this changed after the MSP FSDO proved difficult to deal with, and the "plan" was to move all the props to Colgan and call it Mesaba but using the Colgan certificate, just to keep everything with the MEM FSDO.

So they went through all that crap, just to avoid the MSP FSDO, and now they are going back to the MSP FSDO. Sounds about right....regional airline management 101.....don't like our "plan" just wait, it will change....

From what I hear and experienced-the MSP FISDO was difficult and made Mesaba do a lot of weird stuff when others did not have to do the same thing. For example-seriously they made us all go to a full days worth of classroom training just to turn the GPS on in the SAabs! 1/2 of the people were using them or playing with them before they disabled the actual device. What a waste. The reason the MSP FISDO was such a bear to work with was they were under a lot of pressure after they had a sitting senator die in a crash by a company who was under their watch. But maybe that pressure is all gone now. And I would suspect that if Delta does not like the MSP FISDO because they are not cooperative-then they will move the operation to ATL

How many damned man hours are we going to lose before this bankruptcy is over? Work your ass off to move everything mesaba down to the mem strip mall and lose all the experienced English speakers. Move to the downtown building we can't afford, move back to eagan. Change fsdos a couple times. Jepps, no lido, no jepps. AQP!- wait wait cancel that!- oh we need that, crap! I'm sure there is more, and this doesn't count the perpetual training bubble we will never escape.

I understand missteps happen, it is the perpetual waste that drives me insane.

I have a pretty good handle on the whole situation and the pain to deal with thing is very much overstated. From what I know XJ management could be equally as big of a pain as the FSDO itself, like being difficult and just plain resisting the FAA on certain issues.

By the way, with Delta in the driver seat this waste will not continue.

It really boiled down to a couple of decision-making level people on both sides (FAA and MALA). There was a lot of bad blood there. However, to totally blame the MSP FSDO would not be accurate.

3 sides to every story: FAA, Airline, and The Truth.

AMEN! It's like the whole thing is run by a bunch of low IQ people who suffer from extreme short attention spans, ADD, and who are perpetually drunk and on speed and shrooms, and who love making changes as often as possible without any strategic direction.
