"When we talk about competition in the regional airline space, we’re typically talking about ExpressJet’s position compared to our regional peers; but there’s a whole other arena of competition that involves our suppliers, and airframe manufacturers are among the biggest. Bombardier and Embraer are household names around ExpressJet since we’ve operated both for years, but just as ExpressJet is working to become a more attractive partner to mainline carriers, airframe manufacturers are showing off what they can do for regional carriers.

This week Embraer’s sales team is flying around the country on one of their EMB175s and will be making a stop at ATL on Friday, Feb. 15 to show it off. They’ll be rolling out the red carpet and sharing refreshments at A-Tech between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., so anyone interested in taking a look should stop by. They’ll be doing a demo flight around 1:30 p.m. and those who visit the hangar between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. will be entered to participate in that. If nothing else, this is a good opportunity to see what some of our own competitors are flying and what could be part of the fleet of the future for the regional airline industry. As always, family members are invited along to take a look, too."

Thoughts…

Any pilot that shows up to see this is a fool.

Just walk another 100 feet and you can see an AirTran 737 in maintenance....waaaaay cool

Ask the Comair guys about the time the E 170 showed up outside the trailer at CVG! Promises...all of them empty. If you guys take a pay cut look at the jet you can fly.

Just to refresh your memories...

Last time a new aircraft type was demoed for ASA employees, they had already been purchased. This is a new trend. Don't fall for this.

Does anyone think Bedford is showing off CRJ900s to RAH employees?

Looks like this a sign of why the AMR flying was lost. Mainline carriers want the E jets.

And I know someone will mention the Delta 40 900s, which was solely because the deal included returning the CRJ200s

When was the last time? I've been here 5 years and never saw or heard of a demo at A Tech.

The demonstrator is going to be at SGU the day before. This is just EMB being a traveling saleman, just like they were with the E-190 back in 205/6. Nothing of note here. Move along.

If you're lucky, they might even take a select number of people up for a ride. (By the way, I still have the bag of goodies that they gave people who came out to take a look.)

E Jets were mentioned in today's conference call. Brad Rich acknowledged mainline partners demand for the aircraft, that they are in active discussions with manufacturers, and the timing looks good for implementing the type, and getting deliveries. 6-12 month timeframe to add type to operation(no mention of which operation)

Good luck with that I tell them. 6-12 months...keep dreaming. They/we have no delivery slots. They thought UA wanted more stretched Challengers. Silly management.

Its in SGU at OO headquarters today... If they wanted to show it to OO pilots SGU IS NOT the place... Its just a sales tour.

Pilots don't buy airliners, office pogues do....

We'll find out soon enough when flying is announced by whoever wins it. According to the conference call management stated they didn't expect to win 100% of the RFPs, and that there is still flying for hundreds of aircraft up for bid, that they actively in negotiations and that Inc's position is "very good"

It doesn't matter if it's a carrot or not. I'm willing to work with management to ensure the longevity of this company. However, I'm not going to give up a single penny in pay or scheduling, especially with two of EVERYTHING at the top of the pyramid between SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet. Just isn't happening.

10000% Correct!

Get rid of half of the directors, half of the managers, and make the remaining ones actually work. Ever been by head quarters or the hanger after lunch on a Friday, absolute ghost town!

We have a Director of internal culture, what the hell is that?

And who was the idiot that selected the MRJ?

That moron should be fired!

I checked out the E-175 on the Embraer website. I don't think I want to go back school and be responsible for this mainline plane for what- five more dollars per hour? If I could bid the -700 and avoid the -900 altogether, I would.

1) Expect SkyWest Inc to but the new 175s with the new engines otherwise Jerry is not interested. 2)The MRJs is dead. The deal signed was just a ploy. Jerry had no intentions of buying them.

That was my theory. Just some maneuvering to hopefully get Embraer to offer better terms.

American flying was not lost, only one small award of 43 aircraft--leaving about 257 more to go. How do you know Inc even bid on what Republic was awarded? Brad Rich mentioned in the earnings call, that there were some very specific issues in that award that favored Republic only.

As far as American awards, with the merger, there will be close to 300 aircraft in this seat range that will be allowed. NO ONE CARRIER will get it all. There are only about 2 carriers in the game that have the financial resources to play. INC is one of them. Be assured, they will not bid on any flying that they cannot make money on. Repulic has some history of bidding on flying that does not make money. That's one of the major flaws that Pinnacle made and why they failed.

Inc, (including Skywest Airlines and ExpressJet) will obtain all the business they want between American and United. But, Inc want get it all.

E-175s are in INC's future. You will see evidence in the near future.

With all due respect, OO pilots don't write the check, OO headquarters does.

INC will be purchasing these aircraft in the future. The timing is ripe--a hungry manufacturer with few orders on the book, willing to negotiate the right price; and a Corporation with an excellent financial position poised to capture abundant opportunities! It doesn't get any better than that.

We work for a Corporation that manages their business entities well. They would be successful in any business and in any industry. This is evidenced by the success they have enjoyed in the regional airline industry--one that has a high mortality rate.

I approve this message! Agreed; it's all about leverage and creating it when you can.

I don't think so at all. They've mentioned before that they don't want to throw all of their eggs in one basket.
