GoJet... Will it ruin my career?

Before you spikey haired flame bait freaks have a field day just hear me out. I am getting downgraded at 9e with only a few hundred hours PIC turbine. I do not see an upgrade in sight again here so I am thinking about jumping ship and getting the rest of my PIC time over at everyone's favorite punching bag.... GoJetsssss. I have not directly heard about anyone whose reputation was tarnished bad enough to keep them from being hired on with a major so far. So here is my question.
1. Anyone know of someone who can trace not being hired at a major to being employed by GoJet?
2. Are there many people from GoJet leaving for majors?
3. What would be an estimated upgrade time if I got hired on after the first of the year (I have plenty of time to meet their minimums).

Once again please withhold your childish comments. I am just trying to look out for my own career path here. And no, I don't give a crap if you deny me for "your" Jumpseat Mr. Cool captain dude. Even though I probably made you feel more than welcome on the Jumpseat over at 9e.
 
No it won't. Only PO'ed regional pilots will tell you otherwise. Major airline HRs don't care what regional you're coming from as long as you are qualified and competitive. And most major airline pilots don't keep up with the regional airline bickering. Plenty of GoJet pilots have moved onto majors. The only chance you could get screwed is if a TSA pilot makes it to a major hiring board, but that will be ages away.

Go ahead and apply, don't let people tell you otherwise. They're bitter and angry, but the big boys don't care about regional VS regional battles.

Agreed, with the coming pilot hiring boom it will not matter where you got your flight time.

Don't they hire direct entry CA?
 
It's not about bad reputation or anything, its their operation and work rules! They suck! If you think Pinnacle was bad, GJ should be fun for you! But hey, its all about getting that TPIC time and move on, right? Not sure why everyone thinks as soon as they hit 1000 TPIC all the majors will come knock on your door and hire you!

just get the 1000 pic and the brinks truck backs right up to your door and all of a sudden women in bikinis are sucking your toes . I just ate a gold dipped strawberry. its a thousand bucks but what do i care. Even if gojets steals babies and melts them down for jet fuel its worth it . just get them hours.
 
I mean where's home for you?? If you going to move sideways you can try also a step up!!

Like I said I don't know your specifics but we got FOs running over there!!

Just make sure that you can give a very good explanation to whom ever is interviewing you at your dream job. Why you made a lateral move.
If it looks like you are the type of person that jumps ship at the first sign of trouble it will not be good.
Most airlines are looking for stable and hard working people. That said, If you do move you could say I was about to downgrade, and Gojets was an oportunity to upgrade to captain quickly so that I meet your airlines mins, then that would possibly help.

The senior Captains and HR evaluators on major airline hiring boards have no idea the difference between one regional and another. If you get the interview you already meet the minimum requirements and at that point it is up to you to convince them that you are a worthwhile hire.
 
Don't leave one regional for another.

Go overseas. Get on with a corporate outfit. Try and get hired at Spirit or Atlas.

Best of luck to you. Don't sell yourself short.
 
I'm not selling myself short. I need 600 hours PIC turbine and I will have an interview where I want to go. Going overseas would make me unable to be hired at my goal airline.

Any idea how long one would have to wait for a captain seat at GoJet?
 
While I don't have any personal experiences with anyone at gojets, I do know a guy who was an Eastern scab. He kept working after the strike. You can ask him if it doesn't matter. He will tell you that he was turned down at EVERY airline interview after that including all 5 of the fractional company's. So maybe being a scab does matter or maybe he just can't interview. Though he did get a street captain job in a different country.

GoJet pilots are not scabs, some may be scum, but not scabs. They will have no issue getting jobs elsewhere, as many have proven. BTW- never a GoJets pilot, but have a friend that worked there previously who is now with Delta.
 
Stay. The lateral move will cost you more than the time it takes for you to upgrade again.

This career is a long haul and if you reallly want the job(s) you are trying to get your turbine PIC for, you should hold on where you are.

To be really competitive you don't want to have any lateral moves/ship-jumping on your application. Furlough I guess would be an exception.

For what it's worth no one in the upper food chain of corporate departments cares what regional you worked at. We see Skywest, Mesa, and GoJets guys as the same. Hard working pilots who are looking to move up the ladder.
